What is your favorite part of Yellowstone or what do you want to see when you go?

Yellowstone isn’t just Old Faithful. In fact, as cool as Old Faithful is with its predictable and dependable show, it isn’t at the top of our list. 😬
________________________________________

We have been to Yellowstone National Park twice, and our last YouTube video shows how there are new and magical things that can be found in this place each time you go back! On this trip, we added Morning Glory Pool to our favorites list in the park! It was even more special sharing it with our friends, @justrolandwithit ! If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure it is one of your stops when visiting this Super volcano! 🌋

Now, even though in our opinion Old Faithful isn’t the most incredible thing to see at Yellowstone, you still should see it; and on this trip, we opted for the overlook viewpoint which we enjoyed much better than the close up view.
________________________________________

We still have more to share in next Sunday’s episode, but so far here are our Yellowstone recommendations: Grand Prismatic up close and personal on the boardwalks, Grand Prismatic Overlook by way of Ferry Falls Trail, Morning Glory Pool, stop by to see the architecture at the Old Faithful Inn, and hike up to see Old Faithful go off at the Old Faithful overlook.

IT’S EMOTIONAL

That is my answer for when someone asks what seeing the Grand Tetons is like...it’s emotional.
________________________________________

Where have you ever had this experience? Where the sight of it took your breath away and leaving it felt like you were leaving a piece of yourself behind. A place that creates a kind of fulfillment that you didn’t know was possible, and you long to go back and experience it again.
________________________________________

One of those places for us was definitely the Grand Tetons. Corey’s footage and photography in our latest YouTube video shows you why.😊 It was only made better this time, because we were able to share it with dear friends, @justrolandwithit ! Corey is also attacked by a killer beetle as well, so you don’t want to miss it!😂

ON THE LAKE

Do you prefer to be on a lake or at the ocean?
_________________________________________________

It is a toss up for me. Corey and I love the ocean, and since we got engaged 20 years ago this summer, we have always said we would retire on a catamaran. That is our ultimate SOMEDAY! ⛵️ _________________________________________________

On the flip side, this journey for us really began years ago on our boat on Sebago Lake in Maine (which, funny enough, is also where Corey proposed)! We practically lived on our boat during the summer. It gave us the desire to break away, be in nature more, be together as a family and it opened up our eyes to the possibility of more. Our life together began at that lake. Later, our dreams and goals were created there, and because of that, it will forever be dear to us.

This is Shady Grove Campground on Lake Lanier in Georgia. The whole peninsula is the campground with tons of water sites, many even having sandy bottom water access. The sites have water and electric for $30/night! Surrounded by tall pine trees and the sounds of wildlife and boats on the lake, it felt like home. 😊 Oh, and it is also home to @georgiaglamping . If you haven’t checked out their incredible Glamping tents or Retro RV set up right on the water, get on it! 😉

To make this place even better, it is also where a bunch of our friends live or are back visiting from the road. I can’t think of a better place for a reunion! 😁 More on that in a bit!

THE INN

The Old Faithful Inn is an incredible piece of architecture right next to Old Faithful and is a must see if you are visiting the trusty geyser! Note: We highly recommend watching Old Faithful go off from the look out! Much less crowded and a great view!

The interior of the Inn will blow your mind with multiple levels and a massive stone fireplace! There are vendors selling jewelry and artists painting in the lobby and wonderful stores and art studios to walk through. The girls loved exploring with with their friends @justrolandwithit along with checking out the fun tour cars parked out front!

Corey and I and John and Whitney decided that we are planning a winter trip to stay at the Inn. Yellowstone in the winter is definitely on our SOMEDAY list!

IS THAT REAL?

If you have never seen photos of Grand Prismatic Spring before, it gives you an idea of just how out-of-this-world Yellowstone really is.
_________________________________________________

There are 2 ways to see Grand Prismatic. 1. You can walk the walkways around the edge of the pool as seen in the first photo and 2. you can hike up to the Grand Prismatic look out on the Fairy Falls Trail just down the road. They are both incredible, and we definitely recommend taking the time to do each of them! The walk along the edge really shows the insane designs around the pool, but the look out view shows all the incredible colors of the pool.

We had a visitor join us as we were heading out! A bison walked right across the boardwalk next to the pool and headed on his way. It is amazing how the wildlife here has adapted to this strange landscape, and how on cold nights, they even warm themselves with the steam and hot springs throughout the park!

So please, make sure you get to Yellowstone SOMEDAY! It is a must see for everyone to experience in person at some point in your life! .

To answer the question from our last post: ALL 3 photos were taken with an iPhone! 😉 Thanks to everyone who played along with our challenge this morning!

Hopefully it is obvious by now that our next destination was Yellowstone, and even though we have been here before, there were still so many new things to see. One of which was Morning Glory Pool. We couldn’t wait to check it out with @justrolandwithit !
_________________________________________________

Morning Glory is a beautiful hot spring in the Yellowstone Upper Geyser Basin near Old Faithful. There are numerous trails throughout the park to see all of the geysers and pools and making your way out to this one is definitely with your time! I loved how it is like a mini version of Grand Prismatic where you can actually look down into the center of the pool and inspect the color changes up close.

The varying colors in these pools are actually caused by different temperatures of the water throughout the spring and the various bacteria that grows in those changing temps. See chart in the the last photo for more details.

CONNECTIONS

Don’t get me wrong, social media has its downfalls, but we have connected with so many incredible families through this app and are thankful for the new friends we have made along the way.

Friends like @honeysucklesweetlife who we were Instafriends with for a while and were finally able to meet along the trailhead while we hiked up to Inspiration Point. Check out their page which showcases their incredible photography as well as their newest adventure of living in Jackson Hole with the Tetons as their daily playground!

The hike around Jenny Lake to Inspiration Point was beautiful. We didn’t get the best weather, but we were with our friends @justrolandwithit and hiking with friends is always a blast even in the rain! We got to check out Hidden Falls, the beautiful waterfall behind Corey in our group shot😂! There were so many people there that we had 2 seconds to get a group photo without others getting in it and the falls got blocked in our haste! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Inspiration Point gives you a completely different view of Grand Teton and its surrounding peaks. Our advice is to keep going just a little bit further past Inspiration Point to get a better view of the mountain. And as a bonus, there is a boat that you can take there and back across the lake if you have little ones and can’t make the whole hike, want a nice boat ride with awesome views or if you decide you are tired and don’t want to do the full hike back! 😅FYI, you pay full price for the ride whether you take it one way or there and back.

REUNITED AGAIN

Not only is it wonderful to meet a family in an amazing location (like Alaska), but to then continue to meet up in other places down the road (like Atlanta) and be able to connect and experience more adventures together has been one of the best parts of traveling for us.

We were so happy to be traveling neighbors with @justrolandwithit again in the Grand Tetons! John, Whitney and their daughters are incredible people, and they bring a never-ending smile to all of our faces when we are together. Exploring new things with friends makes the experience more significant and memorable. We will never forget our time overlooking the mountains here with our Rolands and our Teton’s mascot, Chloe!!!😊
