Training for Full Marathon demands discipline & consistency which is quite challenging to execute. Done with 30 kms for the weekend.

This week had been occupied with travel and personal commitments which impacted my strengthening schedule. This was very evident during my long run today. Could feel the weakness on my body and also the recovery from my previous weekend race is taking a lot more time than anticipated.

Target was a mileage of 32 kms or more and maintained my pace accordingly. From the start could feel the strain on my Quads and muscles were tight restricting the movement. Constantly was pushing myself km by km. Got company of @justsoura for over 10 kms that gave me some rhythm through the challenging phase of my run
.
In the final 4 kms, to finish my run, muscles were tired and was just not willing to corporate. Pushed myself for a km more and had to abruptly stop my run with 3 kms to go. Managed to finish 30 kms and left a bit disappointed to not be able to achieve my target mileage.

When muscles don’t corporate, walking is also a challenge. Met few familiar faces but there wasn’t much that they could do.

Overall an experience to remember. Back to recovery, strengthening and getting ready for the next run.

What is cadence?

✨ Cadence = how many steps per minute you take.
✨ Foot strike = which part of your foot hits first (heel, midfoot, forefoot).
💡 Higher cadence → usually shorter, quicker steps → often shifts landing closer to midfoot/forefoot.
💡 Lower cadence → longer strides → more likely to heel strike.

👉 Save this if you’re working on your running form!

Thanks @justsoura for letting me do this analysis. This guy started to run just 3 years ago and is this quick!! Kudos on him. I would recommend him to do this change bit by bit so that he doesn’t get injured when he’s using the ”new” muscles. The hamstring pain he’s experiencing can also be because of this. I would recommend 185 on easy runs instead of 197 steps per minute.
