Today’s 15-mile long run was a GRIND!😓 I knew it was going to be long and sluggish, so I broke it into three-mile chunks and just kept telling myself, get through the next three.

But somewhere along those 15 miles, I started thinking about something I’ve been carrying for a while now. Since my comeback in 2016 after my 🧠 aneurysm, I’ve raced every single year: marathons, Ironman, triathlons, multiple races. Always chasing the next goal, the next finish line.

Race. Tiny break. Train. Race again. Repeat. 🔄

And today I realized… maybe I need a REAL BREAK.

I told Rob that if I don’t get into Tokyo 2027 via lottery next year, I think I’m going to take 2027 off from racing. I’ll still run and bike because I honestly don’t know how not to work out.😂 Maybe I can even live without swimming for a while.😅

Maybe it’s my tired body talking… and these horrible thoughts are taking over.🤷🏻‍♀️ I want to move because I love moving, train because I feel like it, and let the desire to race come back naturally.

Philly Marathon will always be the exception. That race is so much bigger than racing for me and is part of what we do at WeRunWithYou. But otherwise? Maybe 2027 can simply be a year of moving on my own term, strength and fun with NO race countdowns.🚫🏊🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ (races)

Maybe the goal for 2027 isn’t a finish line? 🤔

Maybe it’s getting to December and thinking, “Damn, I really WANT to race again.”

That would be a pretty awesome comeback too right?!✌🏼

What’s your thoughts on this? Could use some words of encouragement/wisdom right now.

This deserves its own post.💜

I ended my last day in Milwaukee with two very special women who share something that doesn’t need much explanation: we’re all brain aneurysm survivors.

I got to spend nearly five hours (which flew by) with Angie, and there’s just something incredibly special about being with someone who has lived through something similar. There’s an unspoken understanding that’s hard to put into words. And getting to do a recovery 🏃🏻‍♀️ together made it even more meaningful.

Then I got to see Wonder Deb again! We first met last September at the @taaf_org Walk, and it was so good to reconnect. She treated us to Leon’s, home of the “world’s finest frozen custard.”🍦 And yes… I may have gotten two.🤭

I was so happy to give Angie our coveted “We Do Hard Things” campaign tee and Wonder Deb our newest tee. I’m so grateful our paths crossed and they’re part of this community we’ve built.🥹

After a weekend of racing, this was exactly how I wanted to spend my last day: moving, laughing, sharing stories, eating frozen custard, and spending time with people who just get it.🫶🏼

Sometimes the most meaningful part of a race weekend happens after you cross the finish line.

USAT Nationals Post-race recap 🏊🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

My coach, John summed up the race perfectly: a warm, windy day with a late start in the final wave, a choppy swim, gusty bike, and a hot run. And yep… I survived it all. 😅

🏊🏻‍♀️ That swim felt like it lasted FOREVER 🫠 Not my strongest leg, but I just kept moving and got through it. Going to stick with 70.3 from here on out, if I’m going to suffer that long in the water, I might as well go a little longer and make up time on the bike and run.😂

🚴🏻‍♀️: A real grind. I had no packs to tuck behind. It felt more of a solo ride exposed to the wind, especially crossing the bridge (twice).

🏃🏻‍♀️ : I redeemed myself. Felt strong the whole way and was determined not to walk. The energy from John, friends, and even strangers cheering kept me going. One spectator kept spotting me and started calling me “Pocket Rocket.” 🚀😂 I definitely gave her a big high five as I sprinted to the finish!

Honestly, best part of race day was meeting the women from our “bike rack mates” crew. Starting as strangers and leaving as friends. I hope Milwaukee isn’t the last time we race together.

So much fun doing Nationals with my roommate, 2026 race mate, and lil’ big Sis, Jocelyn! Still in awe she raced all three days.👏🏼 We had some wild moments, from race logistics and almost losing a rental car key to flight cancellations and delays, but somehow it all worked out. 😮‍💨

And the perfect post-race day: hanging with Tara and her son Grant, eating all my favorite things, and celebrating a weekend well raced.😊

I’m happy with my results, proud of how I fought through the tough parts, and incredibly grateful for the people who made this experience so special.💜

Yesterday's triathlon mixed relay nationals - where Jocelyn, Joe, Chris, and me teamed up to get second in our division and qualify for the 2027 world championships - was amazing, and amazingly hard. We knew going into the race that we had a strong chance of getting onto the podium, and that a silver was a possibility. I had looked over the relay start order and anticipated that, as leg three, I'd be starting with our team in fourth because several other teams had EXTREMELY speedy legs one and two.

I assumed that when Joe tagged off to me, I had to chase down at least one team to get us onto the podium, but it turned out he tagged off to me with us in third. It's hard to tell what's going on in the water so I was determined to catch at least one of those teams on the bike. There was NOBODY near me so I kept putting out more and more power, desperate to catch them despite not seeing anybody up ahead.

Only to start running and have multiple people tell me our team was in second? Turns out that in addition to starting one spot better than I thought, I passed another team while swimming which is why there was nobody to chase (first place had a large gap). Anyway I knew anything could happen so I ran as hard as I could* until I tagged off to Chris. Good thing I did that, and good thing everybody on our relay left it all out there, because we finished a whooping FIVE SECONDS ahead of third place in a 75 minute race. We were super excited to see Chris close it out for us and claim our silver medals at awards last night with the sun setting behind the Milwaukee skyline.

That makes THREE events I get to represent Team USA over in Hamburg next year. The relay experience should prove to be just as fun as yesterday's!

*If you are the type to look up my run split and your reaction is "that's very much not fast, how is that the hardest she could go," I found out about two weeks ago that I have almost no iron saturation or ferritin. It's been... interesting...trying to get myself to be able to run more than 10 minutes straight without feeling like I might pass out. So that really was all I had yesterday, but at least the supplementation regimen has helped a bit already
