Two chefs. One shared vision. A little reintroduction 🤍

We’re Alissa and Megan, the chefs and hearts behind Holistic Curated Kitchen.

Our story began at Johnson & Wales in 2012. Our culinary journey took us to Italy, where we studied, traveled, and experienced how deeply food connects people, culture, and everyday life.

We went on to work in corporate kitchens, building our skills and learning the industry from the inside out. Along the way, the demanding schedules and constant hustle took a toll on our health.

That experience changed how we approached cooking. We wanted food to do more than taste incredible. We wanted it to nourish us, support our well-being, and serve a purpose in our daily lives.

So we brought our culinary training, lived experience, and knowledge of holistic nutrition together to create Holistic Curated Kitchen.

Since then, we’ve served over 10,000 nourishing meals and cooked for retreats, celebrations, and intimate gatherings bringing thoughtful food and personal touches to every table.

Every menu carries a piece of us: our knowledge, our creativity, our skill, and the heart we pour into taking care of people through food.

HCK has become a way of life we’ve built together. A life shaped by travel, connection, meaningful work, and a shared passion for helping people feel cared for.

If you’re new here, welcome to our table. And if you’ve been part of our journey, thank you for helping us build it.

With love,
Alissa & Megan

Seven months ago, I passed the hardest test of my life. Here’s what it actually taught me.

The Certified Master Chef exam didn’t just test my cooking. It tested whether I could prepare with discipline, stay calm under pressure, and keep going when I was exhausted.

Passing didn’t make me a different chef. The preparation did. The early mornings, the reps, the willingness to be bad at something until I wasn’t — that’s the real credential.

To everyone in the middle of a hard pursuit right now: keep going. The work is the point.

Last week at Johnson & Wales, we met students who want to learn, compete, and earn certifications — exactly the kind of cooks we want at The Patterson Club.

Here’s what I’m watching for on a stage: hustle without being asked, questions that show curiosity, and how someone handles the first mistake. Everyone makes one. What matters is what happens next.

To the students we met — thank you for bringing the energy.

Learn. Grow. Lead.

Congratulations to Karolina Guilcapi ‘06 (@sated.ventures.travel), this year’s Alumni Service Award recipient!

Since graduating, Karolina has traveled to 53+ countries, launched her own luxury culinary travel company, been named a South America Travel Expert by Travel + Leisure, and written Passport to Sales. Through it all, she’s stayed connected to JWU, leading student groups, supporting study-abroad programs, and mentoring future alums along the way. …if you’ve been on the recent Costa Rica study aboard trip you got to experience her expertise first hand!

Karolina, thank you for opening doors for so many and carrying the Wildcat Way wherever you go.

Behind the scenes of competing at National Pastry Conference 2026 - Chocolate Artistry

It was such an incredible experience assisting @chefcharleszimmerman with this competition.
I am so proud of what we accomplished, and it was so rewarding seeing all the hard work, long hours, and dedication pay off.
It was truly an honor getting to compete alongside such talented chefs and getting to know so many wonderful people. I can’t wait for the next one 😉✨

Today, Johnson & Wales University joins communities across the country in recognizing Indigenous Peoples’ Day — a time to honor the histories, cultures and enduring contributions of Indigenous peoples.

Through reflection, education and continued learning, we recognize the importance of Indigenous voices and perspectives and the ways they continue to enrich our communities and shape our shared future.

JWU campuses will be closed in observance of the holiday and will reopen Tuesday, October 13. A grassy campus scene with fallen autumn leaves in focus. Two individuals sit in the blurred background using laptops, with trees and buildings visible behind them.
