Can’t forget the vertical’s. And loved having a little bit of San Diego in DC with these fierce women kicking ass and taking names.

Last weekend we opened The Winter’s Tale, and I don’t have the words to express the joy in being able to work with all of these wonderful people, so I’ll save them for the end.

For now I just want to say that everyone on this squad is a star from the crew to the cast. I learn more every day.

Come party with us til December 17th if you can. Enjoy the great pictures by @beetwosweet in the other slides if you need more convincing!

2024 scared the living bejeezus out of me... and it was so exciting.

My IG is very much a highlight reel, but tbh, I started the year devastated after closing the most fulfilling show of my life, Here Lies Love. I was unemployed for months and worried for what was next. But, as the legendary Viola Davis put it, even when you've got nothing left in the tank, you just keep going. And that paid off tenfold.

This year, I've gotten to continue traveling the world. London, Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands, the Spanish island of Mallorca, Beacon, and Philadelphia. Visited my dearest friends in Massachusetts, California, and Colorado. Did a world premiere and hiked 2 National Parks in Arizona. Had a family reunion in Alaska. Did work for the Folger in Washington, D.C.

Creatively, I've gotten to be a part of more gigs and new works than ever before. Workshopping the musical version of Black Swan. Singing for George Takei and the @mazzonicenter. Rocking the all-Filipino @namt_org performance of @proudmarys_official. Making my Green Room 42 debut. Premiering 2 original concerts by @joconernavarro. Performing some of the 1st music I ever learned (by Michael Dadap) over 20 years later. Singing for my 2nd Red Bucket Follies. Singing with a jazz band for the 1st time in NYC.

And of course, @hamiltonmusical. My 2nd Broadway show. After being on tour with them for just 6 months (and actually performing for only 3), the good folks at Ham trusted me to join the Broadway company. After having only performed each Schuyler sister on tour only 2 or 3 times, I got to debut them all on Broadway. And I'm having the time of my life.

But what I'm most grateful for is all the time spent with people I love. Family and friends, at home and abroad, are my everything. And I'm so lucky 2024 afforded me so much time with them. Happy New Year to you and yours.

One of my favorite nights of the year- @tog_ae holiday celebration with our amazing Teaching Artist team. Best team around! Swipe for the silly one. We do work at a theatre, after all. Happy Holidays to everyone! It’s so wonderful to be together again. (Also yes, @k.a.creates crashed the party and we love her for it!)

Just finishing an incredible week plus dedicated to uplifting Black Theatre, artists and scholars. It started in Detroit with Black Theatre Network and Broadway luminaries and their teacher being given the keys to the city. This year I got to celebrate with Mentees and Mentors and got my Executive Board Medal ( ya’ll best believe you’ll be seeing that at future gatherings!) Then a panel on BTA and ATHE with3 Black scholars making Broadway debuts, on to DC for the opening of Arena Stages “American Prophet”, to NYC to see Celeste Jennings new work premiering in January, and finally to Winston Salem for National Black Theatre Festival to direct Tonya Pinkin’s reading of “Jeffery Manor” with some phenomenal actors and my boys meeting one of their favorite actors Dawn Lewis.
It was a week of being reminded of community, vision and purpose and that the best work happens in joy.
