No prices, no seats, all vibe. Kaala in Shahpur Jat, Delhi is a tiny, beautiful coffee bar where you pay what you feel like paying.

Clean, aesthetic, a menu of just two or three drinks picked by a cheerful host, and a lane full of interesting people. We walked in with friends and walked out with memories.

The coffee: two 18-hour cold brew drinks, Peach Better Have My Money and Kaala Kola. Not quite there for a cold brew nerd like me, but if you are new to coffee drinks, the peach one could be a delicious pick.

Vibe 8.5/10. Service 7.5/10. Value 7/10. Coffee 5/10.
I paid INR 600 for two orders (three cups).

Go at least once, around 4 to 4:30 p.m., with friends or a date. And pay what you feel, if you feel like paying (yes, you, you should).

Wait for Part 2 where I challenge him!🤟

Well, ofcourse I didn’t succeed but this defeat was for a good cause. Special cheers to @kaala.bar for the work that they do, for the smiles they serve and the coffee, without a doubt, deserves a special mention.

I've been so fascinated by @kaala.bar ever since I've started working nearby. I saw so many Instagram reels on the Micro bar.

Finally I've gotten to try it and personally I love it. The space is genuinely so small but so chic. It's practically a hole-in-the wall but makes sense because it used to be a Panwadi.

Now, coming to the coffee, yesterday was International Coffee Day and they launched a new Peach Iced Coffee developed apparently by a mixologist from Bangalore and it was bangin' ✨

Given the flash floods that happened in Nepal, the proceeds of whatever you'll be paying over this weekend will be going to Nepal, which is why even though today is Gandhi Jayanti, Kaala is open and serving.

It's also a pay what you feel place which can feel a lil intimidating because you don't know what's the appropriate amount to pay but it's also nice because there's no pressure and nobody's checking, it's truly what your heart and bank balance can comfortably pay.

The coffee itself is perfect to me because it's dark roast and I like how intense it is. May not be everyone's cup of coffee but people who enjoy coffee, especially the ones who always call for a "strong" coffee. You'll enjoy this :)

#thepourfornepal - an initiative has been brewing silently at @kaala.bar with @differdraftdesign . We’re finally ready to keep it rolling for you guys!

Pouring coffee blindfolded is harder than it looks—and that’s exactly the point. Here is how it’s supposed to be done:

Blindfold yourself, cheers, raise a toast to a great cause, and try your hand at the Pour Challenge.

The Rules:
1. Put on a blindfold.
2. Cheers
3. Raise your cup high for a toast.
4. Pour!

The Stakes:
- Nail the pour: Enjoy free coffee on us!
- Spill or miss: Make a donation to support relief efforts in Nepal, to a cause of your choice.

Every cup poured makes a difference. Are you up for the challenge? Tag us in your attempts and pass it on to 3 of your friends by challenging them or tagging them. Do the challenge wherever you are by recording it for us/ tagging us or come over at @kaala.bar ✨
