Who will cross the city on electric scooters to watch you for a minute, then Uber back to watch you cross that finish line...The Krew Runners really has introduced me to the most supportive individuals 🫶🏽

Those 17.38 miles might’ve been brutal but the mid-run chisme and post-run laughs more than made up for it! #LongRun #RunningWithFriends #MarathonTraining

@unofficialruns - @maurten_official - @sacramentorunningcompany & @asicsrunning hosted a Mile Trial last Thursday and to be brutally honest I was pretty nervous going into it.

In the past, short sprints have been when I’ve gotten injured…so a mile trial at week 8 of a marathon training block is not ideal, factor in the heat wave that we had and how sensitive I am to get heat and I considered not participating in the trial. But this year I’ve really been trying to push myself out of the comfort zone and try new things and after training for Run The Robie I was curious to see how fast I could run a single mile.

It was probably around 90* when we were warming up, not ideal but at least it cooled down a little. I could’ve probably benefitted from a longer warmup but with it being so hot I didn’t want to overdo it. I was in the second wave and had convinced Adri to pace me at the last minute so we took off and for the first 1/8th of a mile or so I was doing a sub 7 pace before I started to ease off because I didn’t know if I could hold it and didn’t want to go out to fast and burn out. Overall the first half mile felt pretty good with the only exception being the turnaround (my tendinitis makes it hard for me to do sharp turns) and it wasn’t until 0.75 miles in that my legs started burning and then my chest followed. The legs were manageable and my Heart Rate high but stable so I just held that pace until the last 200 ish meters and give it a final push.

After it was all said and done I finished with a 7:36 Mile and it went way better than I expected.

A sub 7:30 was definitely possible, perhaps even a 7:20 but that would’ve been pretty reckless for me to push for at the moment. Looking down the road, perhaps a sub 7:00 will be the next goal, after CIM of course.

A huge THANK YOU to The KREW for helping make this event possible for our community. Year two of hosting the @cicloviasalinas 3K and once again, we were able to make it FREE for our community. ❤️

That does not happen without people willing to give their time, energy, and support behind the scenes.

To our Krew - thank you for volunteering, helping with setup/breakdown, supporting runners, sharing the event, and doing whatever needed to be done to make the day happen.

Because of you, families, kids, walkers, runners, and first-timers were able to come out and be part of something positive, welcoming, and accessible right here in Salinas. This is what it’s all about - creating opportunities, bringing people together, and showing our community that movement belongs to everyone.

So proud of this Krew and what we continue to build together. ❤️

MEDAL MONDAY! 🏅
This is my 3rd time running the Urban Cow Half Marathon and I finished with a course PR! And Half Marathon PR 🙌🏽
I’m 7 weeks into training for CIM and this was the perfect race to test out the progress I’ve made this year. I’m putting in the work and trusting the process and looking forward to finishing the year with another Marathon PR!
Feeling so thankful for my friends, @corremossacramento fam, Coach @abelito_tercero and everyone that participated this weekend, Running and Cheering! 💜.

You don’t have to be the fastest. You don’t have to be the strongest. Just keep showing up. The rest will come. 🙌🏾💛

🥹 Bye @thecolorfulkayak .... for now.

Today was Kayla's last day running with us before moving to the east coast.

Back in April 25, 2025, we serendipitously met Kayla one morning as Yawn Patrol was taking the run club group photo. She stumbled upon us and offered to take the photo for us. We told her she should run with us sometime, and this unfolded into a beautiful friendship that painted life into our running community!

Wishing you the best. Looking forward to seeing you on your next visit!
