My graduation work "Will We Align?" has been nominated for @artsthread Global Creative Graduated Catalogue 2026 This interactive light installation presents the visitor with a playful system of light and colors, where the interaction is inspired by dynamics used in quantum communication. It asks how we might find points of entry into these technologies, and whether curiosity and direct experience can be enough to begin participating in conversations about them. Reminder for all KABK-students: we are excited to invite you to participate in this year’s 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 exhibition, taking place at Nest in Laak from 6 to 8 November 2026. Each year Nest invites art academy students to reflect on an exhibition at Nest and create new work. This year’s 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥 will be held at Nest in Laak, next to Club Laak. The exhibition will be a response to the exhibition 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘉𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, which takes place at Nest during the same period, from 4 September to 29 November. For 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥, we invite you to consider the stories that have shaped you. Which origin stories do you carry with you? Anthony Faramelli will become Head of the Interactive/Media/Design (IMD) department on 1 July 2026, succeeding Janine Huizenga, who has led the department since 2017. Anthony Faramelli brings a combination of academic research, professional practice and interdisciplinary experience to the role. ⁠ ⁠ Anthony was drawn to KABK by its international outlook and the department's critical, interdisciplinary approach. "All one has do to see how interesting the IMD programme is to look through the archive of previous graduation shows. I have seen so many thought-provoking, impactful, and intellectually rich graduation projects.”⁠ ⁠ As Head of IMD, Anthony aims to build on the department's strong foundation while supporting students in developing new forms of critical and creative practice. “Aesthetic practices are also collaborative and dialogical, forcing us to think and do from other positions. We are living through a time of uncertainty, shaped by crises ranging from war and displacement to economic insecurity and climate collapse. Artists and designers have an essential role in helping us imagine alternative futures."⁠ ⁠ More via link in bio!

In April, we got to learn about the environments of The Hague during a Residency on "Aqueous Ecologies" 🌊 Our journey started with a bike tour to the dunes which are essential to filtering the city's drinking water🚴🚿 Thanks @royalacademyofart.thehague for hosting us! The Residency was part of EcoSenda, a collaborative Research Project between @turkuamk @royalacademyofart.thehague @eka_estonian_academy_of_arts @kunsthochschulefuermedien , which aims to introduce Ecosensibility into fine-art teaching and is co-funded by the EU.

Bachelor IMD Graduation Projects 2025: A Recap⁠ ⁠ With the busy Graduation Show period fast approaching, we are looking back at last year’s exhibition and the wonderful 220+ art and design projects presented.⁠ ⁠ Bachelor Interactive Media Design showed a diverse and exciting range of works. The four-year course explores the way media and technology affect every aspect of our lives, even down to the ways in which we define what it is to be ‘human’. Through challenging accepted norms in critical and creative ways, students develop interactive design solutions with a focus on ethical and artistic innovation.⁠ ⁠ Are You Interested in Bachelor IMD?⁠ These are just a few of the innovative projects realised by graduates of Bachelor Interactive Media Design.
