UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS 2024 ✨🌷
ILLUSTRATION + ANIMATION MINOR, SUMMA CUM LAUDE BAYBEE !!!!

right before the beginning of 2021, i chose to transfer in an effort to become better. i wanted to push myself + prove i could accomplish something i’d told myself i’d never possibly have access to. and so i did.

to be 10000000% honest, putting myself through art school was one of the hardest things i’ve ever done. working multiple jobs at a time to stay on top of impossible payment plans, juggling deadline after deadline amidst mental health struggles, financial struggles, and personal life challenges often felt impossible. i genuinely did not know if i could see it through. but throughout these three years, i’ve also experienced such amazing and unbelievable things that truly made it all worth it.

i fell in love. i made fantastic, disgustingly talented, and caring friends. i interned as a studio assistant for an artist who is genuinely one of my biggest inspirations and role models as an illustrator and person (🫡💕). i went to MOCCA fest (twice!) and gained the confidence to table on my own at bigger events. i helped create clubs with my partner and friends and had the exciting/bizarre/hilarious/disastrous job as an RA for two academic years! i got to draw INSIDE(!!!) NC Wyeth’s studio, be a comics color assistant + teaching assistant, collaborate with friends, make my own fully animated film, senior thesis, 30-something super weird ice cream cone illustrations, comics, posters, and book covers. i got to be a student union school representative, see musicals, go to art museums and gallery openings, make friends at new jobs, reconnect with old friends, and run around philadelphia. i got an apartment, a brand new job within my industry, and had the opportunity to learn from so many fantastic professors who constantly challenged me to be better.

if you showed me this three years ago, i would’ve said you had me confused w somebody else. but it was the continuous and unconditional love and support from my partner, family, friends & professors that allowed me to believe that i was worth this experience and deserved this chance.

despite everything, we made it 🕺✨
