🥋 6 AM CLUB: Where good decisions go to be tested. 😂☕️

Posture, pressure and takedowns this morning. Nothing like getting thrown around before most people have even had their coffee! 😂

Consistency, leadership and good training partners make all the difference. Show up, lead by example and push each other to be better.

Nice evening Chester Zoo for the @nwrfca Armed Forces Covenant Silver Awards evening. Something all businesses no matter how small should look at getting involved with. Tonight I had my Directors hat on for @kaizensummit with MD @imben.newton and my @armycadetsuk hat! Lovely evening catching up with old friends and making new ones. #veterans #leadership @chesterzoo

🥋 6am Gi session… because apparently getting strangled in pyjamas wasn’t enough, now it feels like we’re doing it in a bathrobe. 😂

While most people are still fast asleep, we’re tying belts, gripping collars and questioning our life choices before the sun’s even properly up. ☕️😂

There’s something about early morning training that builds a different kind of mindset. No audience, no shortcuts, no waiting until you feel like it. Just turning up, putting the work in and getting a little better every day.

And that’s what leadership is about too. Setting the standard when nobody’s watching, holding yourself accountable and leading by example. You can’t expect others to put the work in if you’re not prepared to do it yourself.

The bonus? By 7am, you’ve already been humbled by someone half your size and spent 5 minutes trying to get your own Gi straight. 🤦‍♂️😂

Turn up. Tie your belt. Do the work. Lead from the front. 💪🥋

🥋 While most people are still tucked up in bed negotiating with their alarm clock, we’re in the gym getting strangled by people who are also half asleep. 😂

BJJ first thing in the morning isn’t always pretty, but that’s kind of the point. Discipline doesn’t wait until you feel ready, and neither does progress.

You don’t have to be the best in the room. Just turn up, put the work in, stay humble and try to be a little better than you were yesterday.

Leadership starts with setting the example, not just telling people what to do. If you want to raise standards, start with your own. 💪

Now excuse me while I spend the rest of the day pretending I’m not tired and walking like I’ve been hit by a bus. 😂🥋

Show up. Put the work in. Lead from the front.

Another early start, another session on the mats, and another reminder that consistency beats motivation every time! 😂

Nothing quite like putting a Gi on at 6am and spending the next hour getting tied up in someone else’s pyjamas. 🤣🥋

Great session with a great bunch of like-minded people, all turning up, putting the work in, and pushing each other to improve. Plenty to learn, plenty to work on, and definitely plenty of ways to get humbled before breakfast! 😂

That’s what it’s all about; showing up consistently, staying coachable, and surrounding yourself with people who make you better.

Leadership isn’t just about what you say; it’s about setting the example, doing the work, and bringing people along with you.

Keep turning up. Keep learning. Keep getting better.

Now, who’s idea was it to make this a hobby? 😂☕️

6AM No-Gi BJJ 🥶💦

Cold start, plenty of rolls, and a challenging session this morning! 🥵😂

Nothing like getting up at stupid o’clock to wrestle a bunch of like-minded people who apparently have nothing better to do than make you question your fitness before most people have even had breakfast. 🤣

But this is where consistency counts. Keep showing up, keep learning, and keep pushing each other to get better.

Leadership is the same… lead by example, put the work in, and surround yourself with good people who challenge you to improve.

A great bunch of people, plenty of hard rounds, and another morning in the bank. The mats were cold, but we soon sorted that out! 😂🔥

Now to spend the rest of the day pretending I’m not sore. 🫡

6am BJJ 🥋… because apparently sleeping in is overrated 😂

There’s something about consistently turning up when most people are still negotiating with their alarm clock.

Training with a great bunch of people, all like-minded, all pushing each other, and all slightly questioning our life choices at 6am. 😂

Consistency isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, putting the work in, and doing it again tomorrow.

And leadership is much the same. You can’t expect people to follow your words if they don’t see you leading by example.

Turn up. Put the work in. Help the person next to you. Keep improving.

One roll, one early morning, one uncomfortable session at a time.

Now… where’s the coffee? ☕️😂

6am in the gi this morning. 🥋

A great opportunity to work on escapes; probably because I spent plenty of time needing them! 😂

It might not always feel like you’re making progress, especially when things aren’t going your way, but every round, every mistake and every challenge is another opportunity to learn.

That’s the bit I try to carry into leadership too. Keep showing up, stay humble, learn from the difficult moments and trust that the small improvements add up.

Always learning. Always growing. One session at a time. 👊🥋

Back in on a Monday… guillotine… that’s me not looking left or right for a few days 😂😂😂🤦‍♂️

Great session, hard work but really enjoyable.

Keeping consistent is hard… and wanting to stay in bed while the mornings are getting darker is a challenge…

Small group on the mats this morning; only a handful of us there, so it wasn’t the usual thrashing! 😂

Instead, it was a really technical session and a great opportunity to slow things down, focus on the details and work on the armbar. 💪🥋

It was a good reminder that progress isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about slowing down, paying attention and getting the small things right.

I think leadership is much the same. Consistency, patience and a willingness to keep learning are what make the difference over time.

You don’t need a big crowd or a perfect session. Just turn up, put the work in and keep moving forward.

Great to train with a good group this morning. 👊🥋

I really didn’t want want to get up this morning for BJJ training this morning… some days it’s easy, some days it’s hard… this morning was a different one 😂😂😂😂 I wanted to stay in bed so bad 😂😂😂

But…

This is where self-leadership, consistency and discipline kicks in. And, as always, I’m so glad I went… practicing how to stay calm and breathe under pressure is, arguably a great skill to practice 🫪😂🤙💪

Another great session this morning at 06:00.

Some things do click, some things don't, and today with Turtle, it did not click, but that's the whole point of leadership.

Leadership starts with yourself, and for me, being consistent, showing up, and working hard is something that I live by.

If it works for me, it might work for you. Keep showing up, keep working hard.

One day, we'll get there. 🤞💪🤙
