I need to say this to somebody, and maybe it’s you. That season that had you convinced you’re not disciplined wasn’t your fault, and I won’t let you carry it into the fall. Stop beating yourself up!!

The thing to be mad at is the idea that you have to stick to your routine perfectly in order to keep going. You missed workouts. You took time off. You lost your routine. Maybe life got busy, your motivation disappeared, or your body just needed something different for a bit.

That doesn’t mean you failed!!

You were doing the best you could with the capacity you had at the time. Why continue putting yourself down for that?

We’re doing something differently now. Consistency isn’t never missing a workout.

Consistency is learning how to come back without making yourself feel awful. Life will continue to throw things at you, and that is something I can’t change. What I can help you change though? How you talk to yourself.

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” time to start again, this is your reminder:

You don’t need to punish yourself into becoming someone who exercises. You just need to give yourself permission to begin again💙

The gear has been calling to me all day. 💍

Trying to answer emails while my running shoes are sitting 10 feet away whispering “run…”

I fear I am not strong enough to resist.

With less than 2 months of training, I endured 21.5km of scenic landscapes with 1,535m of elevation around the Kananaskis Mountains (massive difference from 200m sea-level training in Nanaimo). My goal was to attempt a sub-2:30 and I achieved it.

Learned and re-learned many things about my body, mostly my mental toughness and fueling improvements. The days of “Fuck it, we ball” as an athlete only gets you so far, excited to see what I can achieve by actually dialing in for my next marathons 🏃🏻⛰️

Leaving the flat horizons behind to run where the mountain air is thinner, peaks are higher and trees are taller. @kananaskishalf you are absolutely breathtaking!!! Soaking in the wild nature with my sons, leaving all the worries and loving all elements! 💚🏞️ Though, I was really looking forward to see some bear 🐻😂
