We’re grateful to see ‘Natural Fictions’ reviewed in Frieze @frieze_magazine as part of their coverage of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial.

‘Natural Fictions’ is on view at @thecarnegie in Covington, Kentucky, through March 6, 2027, as a featured exhibition of @fotofocuscincinnati’s Biennial, The Long View. The show brings together seven artists who use photography and lens-based work to imagine new relationships with the natural world, embracing transformation, fiction, and play rather than documentary fidelity.

So happy to be part of this year’s @fotofocuscincinnati and to have worked with the incredible @kangssorha and @lindsayaa ❤️And a huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this exhibition together and supported the work along the way 🫶

I’m showing two of my video works from 2021, which reimagine San Francisco’s Chinatown as part of the Leymusoom universe. These works hold such a special place in my heart, and it feels especially meaningful to show them together again.

Such a beautiful exhibition with so wonderful artists 🥹❤️ I hope you get a chance to see it!

Thrilled to see that two amazing artists, Dianna Settles and vanessa german, have been named 2026 Joan Mitchell Fellows. ✨✨Congratulations @platonicyouth and @vanessalgerman on the incredibly well deserved honor!! ✨✨

I had the pleasure of writing about Dianna’s work at @institute193 in 2021 and vanessa’s exhibition at the @speedartmuseum earlier this year, both for the wonderful editors at @hyperallergic

I turned 33 last week surrounded by people that I admire. Marci and Sora really spoiled me (ʘ ͜ʖ ʘ)… Plus some photos of my beloved friends this summer! I love you all! 🫂

매년 좋은 친구들과 주변 분들 덕분에 잘 지내고 있습니다! 올해 생일은 안정형 언니들과 샌프란시스코에서 보냈어요. 내리사랑 역시 짜릿해. 평생 막내 할거야. 🥹 나이를 먹는다는 게 뭔지 종종 생각하게 되는데 아직도 말로는 다 설명하기 어려운 복잡한 감정입니다 허허.. 그래도 시간이 지날수록 매사에 노력하는 제 모습은 꽤 마음에 듭니다. 다들 건강하십쇼!!

2026 Biennial Featured Exhibition: The Carnegie

“Natural Fictions"

In an age marked by accelerated change and ecological instability, “Natural Fictions” proposes a slower, stranger, and more speculative gaze. The exhibition gathers artists who harness photography’s potential to imagine new relationships with the natural world—ones that are not bound by documentary fidelity but instead embrace transformation, fiction, and play. Through their work, the landscape becomes a site of experimentation and wonder, where speculative futures and unseen pasts coexist in surreal, poetic, and scientific inquiry.

The artists in this exhibition use the lens not merely to capture the world as it is, but to destabilize it. They fold time, alter perspective, and merge disciplines, constructing images that evoke geological duration, cosmic scale, and embodied mythologies. Some simulate environments that never existed, while others render familiar terrain uncanny through shifts in material, scale, or cultural reference. Their practices explore the camera as both a tool and collaborator in seeing beyond the visible and the known.

Opening September 30, 2026, “Natural Fictions” considers how photography can resist linearity and certainty. What new narratives emerge when nature is approached as something invented as much as it is observed? What futures might become imaginable when science meets spirit or when perspective is shaped by play instead of conquest? “Natural Fictions” invites viewers to look sideways—and forward—at the environments we inhabit, inherit, and imagine.
