Well bugs bunny sure does taste great with mustard and white wine 👨🏼‍🍳🍷👨🏼‍🍳 I decided on making Lapin Sauté à la Moutarde, it’s a delicious dish with wonderful flavours from the Dijon mustard blending with the rabbit and creating a rather brilliant and mellow flavour. Paired perfectly with white wine 🍷😍 ingredients in this dish are well rabbit, carrots, celeriac, white small onions, garlic cloves, thyme, tomato, Dijon mustard, butter, fresh breadcrumbs, mangetout, tarragon, Kumquat and white wine, for the wine I used A fresh crisp white wine by Chateau St Thomas (note, always use wine that you would drink, never use wine that you would not drink) the Obeidy wine by St Thomas @chateaustthomas is perfect. Oh and don’t forget the seasoning. Marinate the rabbit in a cup of white wine for a few hours before cooking, you can use the wine from the marination later on while cooking the rabbit. Today sees the start of Islam’s Holy Month of Ramadan. It was a month I especially enjoyed during the many years I lived in predominantly Muslim African and Middle Eastern countries

For me Ramadan was a period when community spirit, inclusiveness and kindness were particularly pronounced, and I was always warmly welcomed as a Christian. I joined in with fasting friends and work colleagues, enjoying the delicious daily iftars at sunset. One dish I discovered and then looked forward to every Ramadan, while living in Qatar and the UAE, was harees. A divine combination of boiled wheat pounded into a porridge with cooked lamb and drenched in ghee ... I know it sounds unusual but it really is delicious

This year I’ve discovered the UK’s #OpenIftar and #RamadanTentProject initiatives. Muslim groups across the UK are holding Iftars at sunsets in towns and cities across the country, including Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. I’ll be heading down to the London Iftar tent in Tavistock Square with friends a couple of times

Even if you’re not in the UK I’m sure your local mosque or Islamic Center will be holding daily iftars where all will be welcome to join in and learn about Ramadan customs and traditions, if you are not aware of them yet
✨
Wishing my many Muslim friends and everyone else observing the month peace and a blessed Ramadan Mubarak
