A few clips from PROTESTRA’s recent workshop of “YELLFIRE” by JL Marlor! This will be PROTESTRA’s first performance featuring electric guitar and vocals. JL’s piece explores how girls are taught to suppress their emotions and make themselves small.

“But we’re challenging our rage and making our voices heard through rock meets orchestral music” - JL Marlor

PROTESTRA will premiere “YELLFIRE” on June 27 at the “Founding Mothers” concert to benefit charities that support and uplift women and girls in NYC. This piece was commissioned by ACF as part of the Recomposing America initiative.

Gathered with a group of amazing musicians in Brooklyn recently to workshop two new pieces - YELLFIRE by JL Marlor and Matriarch by Danielle Jagelski. Part of the American Composers Forum’s Recomposing America initiative, these two works dealing with themes of girlhood and womanhood will premiere at our Founding Mothers concert on June 27.

Grateful for these players and their enthusiasm for new music and collaborating with composers - much fun was had by all!
