Basal Metabolism's Los Angeles show has once again been cancelled, but SAN DIEGO IS STILL HAPPENING. On August 9, "the band that works on paper" invites you to a subterranean shindig of sonic reduction at Red Brontosaurus Records. First, the atmospheric spellcasting of Othalanga (featuring the talents of @katekoremuzak ) will synthesize the late 70s No Wave scene of New York's East Village with dark, free-flowing gothic rock into a musical brew all its own. Then, Basal Metabolism will take the stage, declaring "No Future? No Problem!" In a maelstrom of what has been described alternately as "post-punk", "weird rock", and "music for the end times". Get lower than ever with us in a fashion the likes of which San Diego hasn't seen since the last time Pere Ubu toured through here. It's a real get-together. #sandiegolocalmusic #sandiegoevents
