Flashback Friday ❤️

2011 Whistler XTERRA Canadian Championships. Easily the best course ever, taking us down A River Runs Through It.

I won the women's race. @josiahmiddaugh won the men's.

I coached @fsmithiv to M30-34 win with a top 6 overall run. Also helped
@katelynbutton win F25-29 as she set her sights on the pro ranks.

Super proud both of these athletes chose to work with me again, more than a decade later, to chase those dreams again. All of us have changed.

I like to call that transformation.

I did my own coaching season debrief this week and assessed the season. I looked back and thought about the coach I was then and the coach I am today.

Can't wait to see the coach I am 5 years from now.

Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day. I feel grateful to have grown up surrounded by parents and coaches who never saw me as less capable because of my gender. I’m thankful for the women who came before me—who stood up, spoke out, and fought for equality—and I’m committed to continuing what they started. I hope every little girl out there looks at me and sees that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. 🤍

Did you know that inequality for women still exists at the highest level of sport—the Olympics? At the 2026 Games, there are two men’s events with no women’s equivalent: Ski Jumping Super Team and Nordic Combined. Equality in sport shouldn’t be optional. It should be the standard. Progress doesn’t happen by accident—it happens when we keep showing up, speaking out, and advocating for inclusion.

Winning and learning

XTERRA world Champs edition ✨

It was another challenging year in Molveno with wet, muddy conditions and a dusting of snow capping the 2025 XTERRA season in Italy. A spectacular venue... with conditions that suit "a particular set of skills".

Proud of all the MelRad athletes out there. Some athletes absolutely killed it and well done to this years champions @loanneduvoisin and @felix_forissier. I knew it was only a matter of time for Loanne to grab that top step ✨

Great photos from @trent.niemeyer who really put a great campaign together and came home with lessons that I'm sure will be useful for redemption in Ruidoso. MelRad alumni @katelynbutton also went to represent 🇨🇦and although the condition weren't showcasing her talents the lessons and data points are handy for next year.

Some athletes feel like racing in Europe is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. In some ways it is. Major time change, different terrain, maybe some culture shock... all of it can challenge good preparation.

With that comes lessons and experiences helping you grow as a person and improve resilience as an athlete. What you do with that intel determines your future success.

Take that into 2026 and use it. Ruidoso has its own set of challenges. Start building the plan that ensures you'll be ready🤘

2026...who is stoked?

Normalize peak performance after 40!

Striving to be your best doesn't have to start at 15 and end at 25!

Taking athletic goals seriously later in life is good medicine!

Believe in yourself, shrug off societal norms, and simply open yourself to getting faster after forty. If Olympic and World Class athletes are doing it you sure as hell can. I see you @malindielmore @kStrong22 @tri.anne.haug @mtbgunnrita @diversinead are a few of my faves tag your favorite faster after forty athlete 👇

Second OA female for me at my favourite local backyard event @squamishoffroadtriathlon . To be honest, this was a great outcome with where my fitness is at. No excuses, as so many factors go into race execution, so I was stoked to be able to dig deep and know that I gave the best that I could on the day. I love racing but damn triathlon is hard on a good day and it feels extra hard when you have to dig deep from experience, not current fitness. 🫠🥵

I love sharing our beautiful trails and appreciate all the work that goes into this event. Shout out to RD Jessica Walker and all the volunteers (especially to my favourite SUP water safety and all time support @overmanbrett ).
The best part was the finish line kisses from Miel as she was the celebrity of the day. 🍯
