Exciting news! WE'RE GOING TO CANADA! 🇨🇦

One week from now, I will be on a plane bound for Canada for some amazing @whydinosaurs events! We're talking screenings, fossil hunting, Dinopalooza, museum tours, the whole nine yards!

Best of all, I get to experience this with some of my favorite people in the world. The cherry on top? This will be my first time 1) visiting Canada, 2) meeting some of the WD crew, and 3) seeing my favorite fossil ever - Borealopelta!

See you soon, Canada! You're not ready. 🦖

We are thrilled to announce KALLIE MOORE (@fossil_librarian), paleontologist and science communicator, as an Executive Producer on @whydinosaurs, the documentary.

Kallie is the Collections Manager at the @uofmontana, as well as a co-host and content consultant on the popular PBS YouTube channel @eonsshow. She has also consulted for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park on renovations to the DINOSAUR ride, and hosted a livestream for the Deep Time Hall at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Her debut children’s book, Tales of the Prehistoric World, was released in the fall of 2022.

Kallie will be attending many of the upcoming live screenings that will be announced shortly, inspiring future scientists and helping to answer the question, WHY DINOSAURS?

We’re so excited to spend the weekend in Drumheller, Canada with this lovely group of paleo pals, and others who will be joining us shortly. We started off with a guided tour of the @royaltyrrell by @kathronodon, held a rare cast of one of the coolest fossils on the planet, and ended with a sneak peek of @napier.theatre - the first time we’ve ever seen WHY DINOSAURS on a marquee! Flyers are up all over town about the Dino Extravaganza and screening on Saturday. Unreal. Thank you all for coming and making another dream of ours a reality. #whydinosaurs #dinosaurs #fossils #paleontology #palaeontology #royaltyrrellmuseum

Dinosaur Provincial Park 🦖

Day 2 of the @whydinosaurs Canada trip took it a little off-road! On the way to Dinosaur Provincial Park, we stopped by the Carolside Reservoir to see a small mosasaur. Once in the park, we took a stroll around the DPP Royal Tyrrell Museum Field Station, which had some really cool displays. We took a bus tour around the highlights of the park, where I found a croc tooth when we were turned loose to prospect for a few minutes!

On this tour, we also got to see a mass death assemblage of freshwater clams, the dig site for "Dennis" the most complete ornithomimid, a Corythosaurus found by the first DPP park ranger, and even a couple of dinosaur footprints! 👣

Tomorrow, I'll be showing some pictures from the Royal Tyrrell collections tour!

Have you ever been to "dinosaur heaven"? I officially have!

The first day of our @whydinosaurs Canada trip was a long but exciting one! Pretty much as soon as we stepped off the plane and arrived in Drumheller, it was go go go!

@ab.ba89 was kind enough to let us stop to see the Horseshoe Canyon Formation, a geological formation containing multiple dinosaur species! Later, we got our first glimpse of the @royaltyrrell, where @kathronodon gave us a tour of the exhibits. I could have spent days wandering these halls!

Quite possibly the best part, however, was meeting my favorite fossil of all time: the Royal Tyrrell Borealopelta markmitchelli. Stay tuned, @bkbonesdinos got a video of the sob fest!

At the end, @kathronodon treated us once more with a glimpse into the education specimens. We got to see and/or hold so many cool things, like a cast of Borealopelta's head and a massive Parasaurolophus skull!

And a special shout-out to Keegan @trxdinosaurs for letting me babysit "Monty" the baby Maiasaura for a day!

Come back tomorrow for a trip to Dinosaur Provincial Park!
