Had to jump on the 80s trend. Same party girl, different decade 🪩 🎉

I was 28, my heart was skipping every third beat, and I moved my surgery date up 4 months so it wouldn’t interfere with a nightclub I was opening... yes, really.

Back then - I attributed this decision to my dedication. To the fact that I was a star employee and quite frankly... a badass.

But looking back now - I feel deeply sad for this very YOUNG woman. A girl who believed she only mattered based on the value she created at work.

And yeah — I held it together... malfunctioning heart and all. And yeah — I helped spearhead the opening of most successful and icon club in NYC history.

But at what cost?

For some of us - burnout doesn’t look like falling apart emotionally, but instead functioning SO well no one can see you’re suffering.

If any of this is uncomfortably familiar-
the high-functioning
the “I’m fine,”
the people-pleaser
the pride you take in how much you can handle

I need you to hear the thing it took me heart surgery and two decades of healing to learn: YOU are not your output.💫

You were WORTHY...

....before the achievements, and you’ll be worthy long after them.
You do not have to wait for your body to stage a full revolt to be allowed to rest 💛

You were always allowed to rest and function like a human instead of a machine.

Sometimes support looks like making a donation.

Sometimes, it looks like making an introduction.

At The Stanley Fund for Recovery, we direct charitable support to recovery nonprofits in Los Angeles—but our support doesn’t have to end there. We also look for ways to connect people, open doors, and amplify the work our partners are doing. 🚲

So when @kathywon from @partygirl.interrupted asked for podcast guest recommendations in a @summit community we’re both part of, @joeybachrach of @rainbowhillrecovery and @rainbowhillfoundation immediately came to mind.

I sent her his name.

One introduction, one conversation, and one podcast recording later… Joey is now a guest on Party Girl Interrupted. 🎙️

We’re so excited to see Joey’s story—and the work of @rainbowhillrecovery and @rainbowhillfoundation—shared on the podcast.

This is what partnership can look like. 🧡

Interesting how we often think the answer is doing more moving faster, forcing timing.

Highly recommend celebrating your birthday at sea with all of your favorite people. 🚢

On a real note, when I was away at @summit I got a DM from a friend who knew me in my former life that read something like, “I’m so happy for you that you’re living the life you’ve always wanted.”

Instant tears. 🥹

Reading that DM, I recognized with full awareness that I have waited so many years to be this happy and am finally living in what was once only a dream tucked into the faraway thought of “someday when…”

Another year around the sun and I’m so available to continue pursuing this life of mine with everything I have. 💃🥂🎉🪩

This trip definitely set the bar for birthdays forever!!! 😍😍😍🫠🫠🫠
