BIGSOUND 2026, what a week! 🎶

SCMIC headed down to the Valley last week with two things on the agenda: creating opportunities for our local artists, and making sure the Sunshine Coast music industry has a seat at the table.

Our SCMIC representatives spent the week making new connections, strengthening existing ones, talking to people from across the national industry and, of course, spreading the word about all the exciting stuff happening in music up here on the Sunshine Coast.

This year, SCMIC was also able to provide BIGSOUND delegate passes to some of our local crew including Che Burns and his manager Ben Russoniello, Jack Raymond, as well as supporting Little Forest, in partnership with Noosa Council, to get amongst one of the biggest gatherings of the music industry in Australia.

Those passes help open the door to days of conferences, workshops, industry events and networking, putting our local artists and their teams in rooms with managers, agents, labels, festivals, publishers, media and music industry people from across Australia and around the world. 🤝

And we were right there with them!

There’s a real buzz building in our region; incredible artists, passionate industry people, new opportunities and a community that wants to see our music scene thrive.

Part of SCMIC’s job is making sure that buzz travels beyond our own backyard. 📣

We came home with plenty of new connections, conversations to follow up and ideas for what comes next.

Sunshine Coast music is making some noise and we’re making sure people are hearing it.

Who was your BIGSOUND2026 highlight?

We are still buzzing from our Regional QLD showcase at BIGSOUND 2026. So much talent in one room, and so many passionate people from across our region who came together to put this event on. We are proud as punch 😊

Big thanks to @theblackbearlodge for hosting us, and everyone who came out to enjoy this sample of regional music.

Thanks of course to @bigsound and @qmusicnetwork and our partners Kingston Butter Factory, Cairns regional council, Noosa council, Invest Gold Coast and Gold Coast Music Alliance, for all the hard work. What a team 🫶

Big thanks to everyone who joined us for Industry Connect at The J in Noosa!

It was great to see such an eclectic mix of artists, venue operators and music industry professionals come together to connect, learn and share ideas. 💡

A big thank you to The J for hosting us, and to our wonderful panel of speakers; Melissa O’Bryan, Dr Sean Foran, Ruby Donohoe and Alex Henriksson, who donated their time to come share their knowledge, insights and experiences with the local music community.

The evening wrapped up with a lively Q&A, giving attendees the chance to ask questions, meet local industry leaders, connect with peers and exchange ideas.

If you missed this one, don’t worry; Industry Connect is heading to Caloundra next! 🌊

The best way to stay up to date with Industry Connect and other fantastic professional development opportunities is to become a SCMIC member.

Sign up for free to get news about upcoming events, workshops and opportunities for the Sunshine Coast music industry, direct to your inbox.📩

❤️ Thank you Solbar ❤️
I’ve been so incredibly privileged to be able to call this place home for the last couple of years.
Thank you for the late nights, warm sense of community, post-gig kick on’s, insane memories and incredible friends made along the way.
All the amazing bands I’ve been lucky enough to work and tour with have been all thanks to this place which is something I’ll forever hold close to my heart.
Last night was the beautiful and heartbreaking final goodbye, and although I couldn’t stay as long as I would’ve liked, I’m just glad I could be a part of it all.
❤️ Thank you Solbar ❤️
