Last week, I co-produced my very first comedy show, Extended Sizes Presents (@extendedsizespresents)! And the only word to call this is… DESTINY.

I gathered a group of some of my favorite plus-size funny people in the comedy community, and together we constructed an amazing lineup of storytellers, comedic characters, and stand-up comedians of size.

The show meant so much to me because it combined two of my favorite interests: comedy and spirituality/witchy woo-woo stuff.

On the evening of the Autumn Equinox, I opened up our show with a tarot reading, and it was so liberating for me!

For the longest time, I struggled to mix my spiritual work and my humor because most spiritual convos are typically quite intense, serious, and deeply reverent, which makes sense. I honor spirituality because I practice it. But I realized through this show that HUMOR is divine and sacred too!

Laughter and joy are spiritual expressions of life force energy, and Extended Sizes made space for that! It was such an honor to create a safe space for a marginalized group of folks that is still consistently discriminated against.

Extended Sizes is an opportunity to show society that not only are we often the butt of jokes, we also make GREAT jokes too! (Shoutout to trauma for making us hilarious 😭)

If you would have told me a year ago that I would be here, I would’ve been DEEPLY confused.

But I listened to the inkling within. I honored the call. And this is what has been created out of bringing community together.

Thank you to @katiohearn and @carameyers for putting this show together with me. Thank you to @fineanddanya and @ariciaskidmorewilliams for joining forces and hosting our show. And thank you to all the amazing performers: @jessicauhler, @vanessagcomedy, @ezrapartier & @hojalopez.

I TRULY hope you felt safe and seen in the environment that we cultivated.

And to those who want to join us, make sure to follow our page @extendedsizespresents! And to those who have yet to discover us, I’m sending out the signal and trusting that you will find us.

This is only the beginning.

Now, who’s ready for part two????
