Nsieme.
@ladanzaresidency in Galatina.
There is so much more to share, but I place this here for myself— a visual archive of my 38 year old body in Salento, moving and playing with the collective.
I remember my first dance with @katecaus in the Ronda. The explosive joy I felt. Like a huge release. Like a baby animal that was just born and immediately starts running around, gangly limbs and all, yet still, remarkably, kind of doing it! As if it is generationally and evolutionarily encoded in us to move to rhythm, to vibrate our sounds, to respond to one another, to survive through relationships, to work with all the elements as source and inspiration, and to know when it’s time to enter the circle, and leave it for someone else to step into.

Thankful for this residency for activating all of our cells. Thankful for those who dreamed and schemed and convened. Humbled and inspired by every practitioner we met, who does the work of daily tending to a culture, rooted in their ancestral land, defining and generously sharing their values, deeply honed techniques and codes, within a growing and changing practice.

It will take time—remembering and integrating the rich lessons that came from this intensive moment shared with remarkable people who felt called, like me, many of Southern Italian and Sicilian diaspora, to be together. Nsieme. We laughed and cried, holding grief and reverence of what has been lost and what still haunts. I am grateful to have gained more kindreds and comrades, scattered across this world, to practice and consider the many dimensions of healing, belonging, and the responsibilities we accept as we hone our gifts to bring to the collective.

And of course thank you PIZZICA in all your forms. 🕷️🎶💃🏽🪗🎻
Images are an assortment of mine and from participants, teachers and coordinators.

There’s something about seeing a place for the first time with someone who’s just as curious but moves with ease @katrina.siladi Thank you for being up for every turn, every detour, and every “wait, what’s down there?
Of course we found our favorite wine bar 🍷🥂 , our nightly last stop, where we closed out every day with a glass and a debrief. Some rituals just form on their own.
I keep learning that travel isn’t only about the places you see. It’s about who you are while you’re seeing them. Left with a lot of gratitude. Grazie, Roma 🇮🇹

Roaming in Roma, Part 1
My first time in Rome, and a time was had. What amazed me most was the ease and flow of the city, and how its history isn’t tucked away in a museum. It’s right there in the streets, the fountains and the stone under your feet, thousands of years still standing in place.
We had a list, but the real magic came from letting the streets lead the way. Turning down a random alley, finding a piazza we didn’t plan on, stopping because something looked beautiful. Rome rewards the wanderers.

My life partner and artist @rcolangelofoto first introduced me to the practice of glimpse photography when we met.

Back then, we used to run around with Instamatic cameras, freely snapping in a carefree, unfiltered way.
What I call glimpse photography is all about catching raw, unposed, and fleeting moments as they happen. It’s rapid-fire candid and documentary street photography into one, focusing on motion, passing glances, and the beauty of unplanned frames rather than curated perfection.
I’ve rediscovered this practise with a digital camera (I actually gifted to Renato!) that locks away the images for 24 hours or until the “film” is complete.

I absolutely love that element of surprise and the anticipation of not knowing what the photo will look like until much later.
For me, it’s a way of reliving a moment from a surprising point of view. It is so entirely different from the mainstream urge to frame and craft a perfect composition.
I know, it’s controversial photography to some, but it keeps that original, carefree Instamatic spirit alive.

Here some of many snaps from our dance-music-cultural residency @ladanzaresidency in Galatina, earlier this month.

I’m sure @katecaus, my brilliant partner in crime, and the participants will giggle as they’ll reminisce the sound of the winding camera during our time together 😝.

More to come from the motherland soon.

Three cities, three weeks. From family time to Seattle for work (and a World Cup experience), to Paris for pure joy—including a dreamy day in Champagne—and back to New York for a little bit of everything.

Lately, it’s been about choosing peace, holding onto joy, and allowing myself to fully live in the moment. La vie est belle… especially when you’re surrounded by a community that pours right back into you.

Unadulterated mood for Maria’s solo project @notforradio. Blithewood Garden with its Victorian walls, arches, and sweeping view of the Hudson River were the setting for epic fabric draping, hand built candle sculptures, and of course flowers everywhere. I can only take credit for the flowers - this sumptuous event was executed by a team of many talented people.

🚨 CUSTOMER APPRECIATION POST 🚨

OK, OK, this grocery store life moves so fast. There is so much to do! I want to take a second here on this platform that is arguably meaningless to express a sentiment that is meaningFULL, and that is : our gratitude to all of our customers so far. THANK YOU.

Thank you!!!

Thanks for coming in, for eating, for drinking, for smiling, for asking, for coming back, for buying flowers, for sitting and playing chess, for bringing your dogs, for bringing your kids, for bringing your lovers and parents and even your grandparents and grandchildren!!! Thanks for asking for 2% milk and Greek yogurt and Parmesan cheese and tampons! Thanks for coming in hungry for sandwiches even though we didn’t make any (we will make it up to you).

Thanks to that one couple who sold us out of the Italian wafer roll cookies; I just got in many more cases for ya. Thanks for trying the melon and the gazpacho. Thank you for engaging in the poetry of gathering items to bring home, thanks for letting us photograph your cute hauls!

Thanks for showing up and showing us that this grocery was a good idea and something that was needed here. We are here for you, we’re listening and working towards bringing you everything you are asking for, which seems to be more cookies and more sandwiches. Thanks for your patience. We are really happy to be here and have a lot of plans for this corner!!!!!
