Perfection: a question of repair @penlandgallery through 29th November

A group show that celebrates the intimate and everyday qualities of mending, repair and reconciliation.

Kathryn Gremley and I co-curated this show. A start point was my own excitement about low-tech mending. Physical. Patched. Direct. Held together with materials close at hand. DIY sophistication and sensitivity. I’ve always loved the portability of a needle and thread.

I was attracted to the imperfect qualities in the mended-ness of many of the works. And the emotional feeling they give.

Featuring work by: Abdulrazaq Awofeso, Chuck Blue Lowry & Sue Mayo (Breaks and Joins), Zak Foster, Carlos Jiménez, Rachael Matthews, Rachel Meginnes, Katrina Perdue, Celia Pym, Catherine Reinhart, Marf Summers, Siri Johansen (Waste Yarn Project)

This Saturday, November 29th is the last day to see this wonderful show, co-curated with @celiapym in the @penlandgallery.

Through her work, community outreach and curation, Celia is a leader in the growing conversation about mending in our world.
