🩷 Surprise visitors are the best visitors 🩷 Today, whilst we were at Parker’s Piece in Cambridge promoting the Pink Ribbon Duck Race, I had the loveliest surprise. The wonderful @kats_journey_with_breastcancer, one of our beautiful @bold_exhibition England/London participants, turned up with her husband to say hello and show their support for the race. It was such a lovely moment and completely unexpected. Not only did they adopt their very own flock of ducks for the race, but they also took home one of our exclusive Pink Ribbon promo ducks, who is now about to embark on an Italian adventure! 🇮🇹🦆 We're expecting plenty of Ducks on Tour holiday photos as your little duck explores Italy over the coming weeks, and I can't wait to see where she ends up. Most importantly, it was simply wonderful to catch up with Kat and see her looking so happy, healthy and well. One of the greatest privileges of being involved with the @pinkribbonfoundation is reconnecting with incredible women like Kat who become part of the Pink Ribbon family ✨️ Thank you both for making my day and for supporting the Pink Ribbon Duck Race. Safe travels, little duck 💕🦆✈️ #PinkRibbonDuckRace #PinkRibbonFoundation #LittleDucksBigImpact #BOLDexhibition #BreastCancerAwareness

It’s hard to believe it’s already a week ago today since the UK’s first ever @pinkduckrace in Cambridge! What an amazing afternoon it was - raising awareness and vital funds for the Pink Ribbon Foundation and supporting those affected by breast cancer. We had 5,000 ducks racing down the River Cam, and it was wonderful to see so many people come together for such an important cause. We’re delighted to be sharing Part One Photos (credit @kellyreevesphotography) from what was a sunny, exciting, and truly memorable event. The race was also covered by @itv Anglia and @bbcnews on the evening news, with fantastic support too from @cambridgeradiouk and @bbccambridgeshire Radio in the lead-up to, and after the big day. A huge thank you to all our sponsors, partners, and the incredible volunteers (some are tagged / listed below) who gave up their time to ensure the event ran safely and was environmentally friendly. We’re also so grateful for the fantastic support from the local boathouses - it really made the day possible. Here’s to making next year even bigger and better! #pinkduckraceuk #pinkduckrace #Cambridge #PinkRibbonFoundation #charity #fundraising #rubberduck #pink #breastcancerwawareness Wearing @fumbalinas ✨️ @cityrc @1stand3rd @idcwristbands @champsrowingcambridge @cambridge1899 @cubcsquad @fitzbc @robroyrowing @xpressboatclub @chestertonbc @stedmundsbc @jesuscollegeboatclub @trinityhallboatclub @girtoncollegebc @wolfson_college_boat_club @corpuschristibc @sidneysussexboatclub @clareboatclub - apologies if we've forgotten anyone 🙏

A look back at a very special moment. In August 2024, our friend @caroline_sikkenk the talented photographer and founder of the @bold_exhibition visited @antilopedebieprinting_nl to see the very first copies of the #BOLDphoto book roll off the press! With the support of Susan de Loor and funds generously donated to the Pink Ribbon Foundation via monies raised by @demain Caroline created a breathtaking table book featuring around 100 incredible women (and their loved ones) - all proud members of the BOLD family. The book captures Caroline’s moving images from around the world, celebrating the beauty, courage, and resilience of women of all ages who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, intensive radiation treatment, or alopecia. Since then, BOLD has taken us on a remarkable journey - from its powerful debut at #PINKLondon2023, to being lit up on the @piccadillylights and Times Square for World Cancer Day, to an exhibition at the @sidingswaterloo and now immortalised in this stunning publication. Today, as we gear up to the BOLD Scotland launch in Glasgow on the 25th September, we’re revisiting that milestone - capturing the passion, people, and purpose behind the making of the book. Looking back fills us with pride - and looking forward, we’re excited to keep growing the BOLD movement across the UK. London – done ✔️ Scotland – done ✔️ Next up Wales? Ireland? What do you think? One week since this happened… It started with a photo shoot last September, then they were up on the Piccadilly Lights in London and Times Square in New York in February, followed by an exhibition in London in March and April. And now, they’re in a stunning book! Launched in style last week at @thehouseofkeunebybloom. Thanks to the incredible team - Lisa Allen @pinkribbonfoundation and project founder, photographer Caroline Sikkenk @bold_exhibition - and all those who have supported them (shout out to @nannydoes and @clarateddy). Honoured to be featured alongside these beautiful women from the UK and around the world, and hoping it helps others going through hair loss, whatever the reason. Plus, it’s also raising money to support the vital work of the Pink Ribbon Foundation. Hurrah! Copies can be bought via the website https://www.pinkribbonfoundation.org.uk/shop 💕 Bald means BOLD. The wait is almost over .... ✨️ Yesterday, our friend @caroline_sikkenk, a talented photographer and founder of the @bold_exhibition, went along to @antilopedebieprinting to watch the #BOLDphoto book roll off the press!! Over the last few weeks Caroline and friend @kantoordeloor have been busy putting the finishing touches to an amazing table top book featuring some 100 glorious ladies (some with family and friends) who are all part of the BOLD family 💕🎀💕 Using funds donated to the Pink Ribbon Foundation by @demain they have created a stunning record of the BOLD journey. The book charts Caroline’s poignant images from all over the world, showing the beauty of women of all ages who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, intensive radiation treatment, or the autoimmune disease alopecia. I am honoured to play a small role in helping to bring BOLD to the UK alongside the team at @thinkpinkeurope and have worked alongside some fabulously fierce women, who I now count as friends. In less than a year, we've all set off on a thrilling roller coaster ride. From the photos being taken, to a moving tribute at #PINKLondon2023 with @kerryellis79, to having the images displayed on the @piccadillylights and Times Square boards for World Cancer Day 🌏 then a heartfelt exhibition at the @sidingswaterloo and NOW the publication of this beautiful book. Keep an 👀 out for the launch of the book on our website plus a special event with @andrew_barton_hair at @thehouseofkeunebybloom London during October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀 Exciting times ahead ..... who thinks we should bring BOLD to other parts of the UK??? Yesterday, the BOLD family lost one of its UK superstars ✨️ Sally recently began receiving hospice care and yesterday passed away quietly, holding her husband’s hand. Sally was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, at the time she had two small children and “it came as a massive shock” to her and her husband, turning their “lives and plans upside down”. Sally endured endless chemotherapy sessions, surgeries, radiotherapy, recurrences even after a mastectomy and hair loss. When I met Sally with @caroline_sikkenk in Sept 2023, Sally was already undergoing treatment for brain metastases. Sally’s husband Paul came along with her to the BOLD photo shoot and their love for each other shone through what was obviously a very difficult time. Paul recently shared with me that, "Sally was incredibly proud of her participation in the BOLD campaign - it was something completely out of her comfort zone, and a great inspiration for our two young girls, so I am thankful that you gave her the opportunity". When being photographed last year, Sally told us “Having lost my hair multiple times throughout the last nine years, it has finally stopped growing completely. Not only has this affected my self-esteem, but my hair loss for me was one of the biggest hurdles to overcome. Recently I have come to terms with the fact that I will never have the long hair that I once had, and the BOLD campaign has finally helped me accept the way that I look now, and to focus on what I do have, rather than what I have lost. I hope to help inspire anyone facing hair loss through this campaign.” I didn’t know Sally well or for long, but I found her to have a warm and generous spirit. Being bald showed her amazing cheekbones and wonderful skin and through her participation in the project, she wanted to “change people's perception of being bald and hair loss.” Paul has confirmed that the family are keen for Sally’s photos to continue to be used as part of the worldwide @BOLD_exhibition and we send our deepest love to him, Maddie, Lucy and their wider family and friends 🩷 #BOLDphoto

Thank you to everyone that came along to @parkfarmhotel to celebrate 15 years of Star Throwers. We were joined by 150 people who enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, music from Jazz Division and Leonie Brown and the venue was beautifully decorated by @goldsmithsevent. A special thank you to @kats_journey_with_breastcancer for her incredible talk and sharing how Star Throwers has supported her. More pics to follow in the upcoming days. Thank you to our sponsors @pilgrimsfoodmasters and all our amazing volunteers.

This experience is such a great example of what happens when you push through your comfort zone and say YES to the unknown. In October I said YES to taking part in a photoshoot involving twelve other incredible women who were bald as a result of treatment for cancer @bold_exhibition The fun I had during the shoot was enough to make the experience memorable but what's happened since is beyond what I could have imagined. I've made wonderful new friendships with incredible women. We share an understanding of what each other has been through and I didn't realise how valuable this was until I was able to share my experience and hear their powerful stories. I got to attend the Pink Ribbon Foundation Gala with my sister @emms71 - an absolute highlight of 2023. Our photos were broadcast across Piccadilly Circus @piccadillylights and Times Square @timessquarenyc for World Cancer Day in February. And now, you can see these powerful photos (by the incredibly talented photographer @caroline_sikkenk ) being exhibited until Monday April 1st, at @sidingswaterloo . I'll be there on Friday between 10am-5pm so please come say hi and learn more about the @pinkribbonfoundation who made all this possible with their magic.
