POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
For our Southampton waterfront project, the inspiration began underfoot. As I shared with HC&G, my design process often begins with the rug, and for this home, finding the right one was especially important. A custom silk rug with soft, aquatic blues became the starting point, drawing from the water just beyond the windows and setting the tone for the palette throughout the home. With such extraordinary waterfront views, we wanted the interiors to feel connected to their surroundings while still reflecting our clients’ love of art and their own point of view. It is always such a pleasure when clients embrace the design process, and these clients were wonderfully engaged throughout, making the finished home a true reflection of them. Sharing a few details from the project, along with a peek at its feature in the September issue of @cottagesgardens. Thank you to the HC&G team for telling the story of this very special home so beautifully! Read the full story at the link in my bio. Katy Stone’s Cedar Fall (2025) and Willow Wisp (2025) look fabulous in this new client install! Each of Stone’s works is as much about gesture as it is about the stationary image. In these works, the wall becomes the canvas. Stone looks to plant forms and their movement to create cascading, draping, appendage-like repetitions of pattern. She often begins with digital drawings, imbricating leaf-like shapes into rhythmic compositions that, in a sense, mimic the behaviors of plant growth and proliferation. Ripe with beautiful paradoxes, the works are fixed, yet ooze like fluid; they are still, yet evocative of the ephemeral spirit of all natural systems.  Photo by Sophie Lancione Photography

I love it when my clients invest in real art. The piece on the right is by @katystone.art whose work is exhibited in many great museums on the regular. The reason I found this piece particularly compelling is it served the need of filling up a whole bunch of large walls on different planes. We gave her an idea of what we liked for the space that would traverse not only three walls but the height of the stairway, and then Katy came back to us with a really detailed drawing depicting the number of paillettes (shiny blue things) and remaining negative space. This client loves to host friends for cocktails at night so just imagine the view and the lights outside and this art piece twinkling inside. Four RYAN LEE artists are in an exhibition together at the McNay Museum of Art in San Antonio! Featuring work by Martine Gutierrez, Katy Stone, Emma Amos, and Hung Liu, untitled: 20 Years of Collecting Contemporary Art presents unexpected pairings by organizing objects according to the seven elements of art — line, shape, color, form, texture, value and space — and one principle of design — pattern. The exhibition of more than 100 works, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos and installations, demonstrates the McNay’s dedication to contemporary art.
