Hello it’s me Sarah!

I thought I’d do a little “get to know me” or “introduction” if you will.

This has been a little slice of my life for the last seven years. Growing older has taught me a lot. It’s been a fun ride but I’d be lying if I said it’s been 100% rainbows and butterflies. It’s had many challenges especially when you are trying your dang hardest to transition into another field.

But I wouldn’t trade any of it, my little life has been eye opening. I’m still trying to figure it all out and I’m still learning along the way and won’t ever stop doing that!

If you make it to the end let me know what you think, and if you’re new here I hope you stay awhile!

Two years ago, we launched The Ocean Speaks.

What started as an idea became something far bigger than we could have imagined, a collection of voices from around the world, each sharing their connection to the sea.

Writing a book is one thing…
but building it from a global community is something else entirely.

Every story within these pages carries a piece of the ocean, from those who live beside it, work within it, protect it, and are inspired by it.

And the truth is, this book only captures a small moment in time. A snapshot of a much bigger, ever-growing community.

Since then, the stories haven’t stopped.
They’ve travelled further, reached new hands, and continue to shape the movement we’re building together.

To everyone who contributed, supported, and believed in this, thank you.
This belongs to all of you.

The ocean is still speaking. And we’re still listening.

I didn’t expect the Arctic to feel like this ❄️

A week of unforgettable moments - from late nights enthralled by the Northern Lights to feeding reindeer to surprise encounters with Orcas! Lofoten was nothing short of magical ✨

Cold fingers. Warm canine. Endless stories.

This wasn’t just a shoot - it was a reminder of why I chase remote places and meaningful moments.

My favourite shots from 2025 📸

Given I don’t actually get to do that much photography outside of set photography jobs in my leave from @lovetheoceans , there wasn’t a huge selection this year but nevertheless here’s some of my fave of my 2025 snaps:

It’s the people that make it ✨🫶

Looking back over this year, some of my favourite moments are my favourite because of the people I shared them with. I’m incredibly lucky to have an amazing support network both personally and professionally. Choosing just 20 of my favourite moments from this year was INCREDIBLY difficult but here’s a highlight:

1. @kaushexxtra and I shooting for @galaxy_diver_liveaboard in January - our first time in Galapagos and it was AMAZING ❤️
2. We took some time to visit my lifelong bestie @coreandertea over the other side of the world and this was serious nourishment for my soul 🫶
3. The first time I’ve visited Baja and it did not disapoint! Also found this massive pile of salt that looked like a gigantic pile of coke entertaining 😂
4. We held a stand at the @godivingshow and some of our awesome volunteers came to help out!
5. Quality time with one of my favourite mini humans 🚗
6. Our first time in Jersey, there for @oceanculturelife ‘s world oceans week which was incredible!
7. Some of my fave ocean gal pals all bumping into each other at UNOC, SUCH a happy coincidence 🥰
8. Coming off stage after a talk on gender equity in ocean conservation at UNOC
9. Happy team after first dives for our project BEAM (biodiversity enhancement and algae management project) 🪸
10. We started women’s swim lessons, full circle moment for me that made my heart warm
11. Infamous bruv deployments with students on a choppy day 🦈
12. Was honoured to be awarded @uni_southampton ‘s Rising Star Alumni Award 🏆
13. A moment of piece with 2 of my fave humans in my fave spot 🌅
14. A rubbish screengrab from one of the best whale interactions of the season! Everyone cried 😅
15. Ran our first art trip with @belowandbeyondart who has now become a close friend that im so grateful for 🫶

A couple of weeks ago I visited Jersey for the first time with the @oceanculturelife family for their Oceans Week celebrations and was so inspired 💙

As grassroots conservationists, we often get swept up in project delivery, but this week reminded me how essential storytelling is in conservation. Stories spark change, build empathy, and connect people across oceans ✨

It was also amazing to see my partner @kaushman ‘s film screened about our staff member @bentonhamussuanhamussua and his amazing journey with swimming and the ocean. Just today he was teaching our new intern how to swim and to think 4 years ago he was a non-swimmer… 🤯 he’s a testament to @lovetheoceans swim program’s importance to bridge critical skill gaps in ocean governance.

It was also incredible to see the emphasis on ocean literacy for kids at OCL’s Oceans Week - especially the care taken to include neurodiverse children in those sessions. As someone who’s neurodiverse myself, it meant so much to see that inclusion in action 💫🥳

Huge thank you to @tamsinraine , @mattporteous @lindsey_e_raine and the whole OCL crew for welcoming me with open arms and curating such a powerful week of connection, conversation, and creativity. It was an honour to speak on a panel and share the work we do at @lovetheoceans — and even more of an honour to learn from others like @timsilverwood @zandithemermaid @elliemoore24 and @marionthebault doing such impactful work around the world 🌍

Feeling re-energised and grateful. Thank you Jersey & thank you Ocean Culture Life fam 🫶🌊

We are all connected to the sea 🩵

From empowering 10 families through our Ocean Connection Programme with CAHMS, to inspiring 300 school children via our World Ocean Week education initiatives, our efforts reach far and wide. Over 500 members of the public engaged through workshops and our Stories of the Sea event, while thousands explored our exhibition.

Plus, a special private client event with @teammourant welcomed 250 guests, featuring international speakers from Australia, South Africa, Portugal, and the UK, alongside inspiring local Ocean Guardians and more!

A wonderful week with the whales ✨💕🐋

I spent the week in Mexico with @silversharkadventures visiting the whales - 3 days of pure grey whales, then a slightly different part of Baja for fin & humpbacks. What a spectacular week! And got some nice split shot practise time in hanging off the boat!

When the sky erupts into colour ✨🌈

There’s no other feeling like watching the Northern Lights explode in the night sky above you. The sense of awe and speechlessness that comes over you as you watch it dance its way across the sky.

I took this video at only 6pm! It started erupting just after sunset and continued until 2am as I watched in awe the entire time ✨
