Drumming has become the reason why we come together to honor our ancestry… We will not lie to y’all, commune is also built, friendship, camaraderie and love, while we get ready to share with you what we are creating. We meet on Tuesdays and two facilitators guide us to learn what for them is like breathing… gracias everyone for making this space possible.

Sometimes you need a break from the classes and rigor, and just need to enjoy the between moments. It’s 1000x more fun when I’m with people who make dancing fun too💕

Spent Force: Living Waters by April Turner

Missing this creation so much. Reconnecting with some of my favorite people to dance with last weekend has truly brought back all the memories of this piece. I have never felt so fulfilled from a performance before getting the opportunity to be a part of this one last semester.

As this semester comes to a close, I continue to feel the warmth and power. Always so grateful for the art I get to experience from my people🖤🖤🖤

Gratitude gesture from the author. I could not have written Jembe Revolution without the support of my family. After we published the book, my family members were the FIRST to PURCHASE. Thank you for the love and support Family!
I am because WE are
The wind beneath MY wings
My inspiration to create
The fruits of my labor
The precious in my jewels
My strength in the struggle
The soothing balm for my wounds
The warmth within my soul
The rhythm of my heart
The comfort in my rest
Nourishment in my reflections
My reminder to Smile

These are my Roots
The branches of our ancient tree
The blood of my blood
I AM because WE are.

I can’t believe today is the day that you all take your next steps in life.

It has been a pleasure to get to know each of you in your time at East. I wish you nothing but the best in your next adventures.
