POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Hey everyone!

My dear friend, teacher, and Kayawei Earth co-founder Txaná Tuwe and I both have birthdays coming up, and all we want is FISH! 💙🎣

To celebrate, we’re calling on our community to help us realize a dream that will be a major step toward food security in Tuwe’s village:

We’re raising the final $10,000 we need to build two fish ponds in Novo Futuro, in the Brazilian Amazon.

These ponds will give Tuwe’s community a steady source of clean protein, so the men no longer have to travel hours upriver into dangerous territory shared with their threatened, uncontacted neighbors just to feed their families.

We’ve already raised $10,000, and we’re on a mission to raise the rest by November 1st so we can build the ponds as soon as the first rains come (and so we can be extra happy on our birthdays!).

Thank you so much!

It's not often you get to interview someone who has lived most of their lives entirely outside of modern society.

So when I got the chance to speak to Txana Tuwe - elder of the Huni Kuin tribe, from deep in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, I jumped at the chance.

We discussed his life in the Amazon, his thoughts on AI and about his efforts in protecting his corner of the Amazon rainforest.

Waking up to the joy and smiles of these children reminds me every day that there’s always more room to make in my heart!! ❤️

Living fully integrated with nature, free to play, sing, hunt, fish, and celebrate their culture, creates incredibly independent, kind, compassionate, mature, sensitive little humans who are an absolute joy to be around. Witnessing their innate wisdom reminds me of what naturally exists within our children when they have the privilege of growing up without being inundated with technology or forced to stay inside most of the day.

They are my biggest healers, teaching me what I wish I’d been able to grasp during my own childhood: how to be generous, and how to find joy in giving, sharing, and service. In the village, their whole life is one big play date. From morning to night, they swing from trees and play in rivers, doing things that even the most privileged kids in my country only get to dream of once a year at summer camp.

While it’s important not to romanticize village life, and to recognize the immense hardships these children face, they still have the gift of growing up the way human beings were always meant to — and that has given me so much hope for the future. Viva os guardiãozinhos da floresta!
