Same model, same 30 minutes, three different viewpoints. Jessica, Cletus, and Kaynan each brought their own eye and approach to the challenge, translating the same subject into lines, details, and interpretations. Orchestrated by Vomnetwork, this was an exploration of art, perspective, and what happens when different creative minds are given the same starting point. Three artists. One subject. Three perspectives worth sitting with. Artists @kaynankayphas @cletus_oche @thejessicalouis Model @aloiyevaa Project manager/ video @lui_lens Set @sulaymahh Cc @vomnetwork

Not every African who crossed the ocean did so in chains. "Free Passage" reclaims the story of Africans who travelled during the Renaissance as merchants, diplomats, scholars, and explorers. His European tricorn hat reflects cultural exchange, while his tribal marks, braided locs, and cowrie shells preserve where he came from. He did not leave Africa behind. He carried it with him. Title: Massai Renaissance Artist Spotlight: @kaynankayphas Description: The painting captures the longevity and existence of the Massai people of Ethiopia even during the European renaissance era. Produced: January 2025 Artist Statement: My artistic. practice centers around uncovering the lost and hidden records of the past—those histories that were forgotten, erased, or never properly told. I am particularly drawn to stories that reveal the identity and achievements of Black people who were also part of the cutting edge of human evolution, global culture, and international exchange. These truths may sometimes appear controversial, but they are necessary. Through my art, I aim to awaken something deep within every Black person who may not know their roots, just as I once did not . My personal journey of freedom began when I started researching ancient records, and now I tell these stories with every stroke of my brush. Title: Black Samurai: Yasuke Artist Spotlight: @kaynankayphas Description: Inspired from the Japanese folklore, as the first black man to become a samurai. He arrived in Japan in 1579 as a servant of a Jesuit priest. The painting is one of a series from the ‘Black Reimagining ‘ series: it captures the story of black figures in different cultures of the world especially foreign cultures and in their outfit. The series is aimed to subvert the notion of blacks being inferior. Produced: February 2023 Artist Statement: My artistic. practice centers around uncovering the lost and hidden records of the past—those histories that were forgotten, erased, or never properly told.
