POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
British citizen Kayleigh Fraser has been trapped in Sri Lanka since 2022 after her passport was seized during a raid. Her only ‘crime’? Sharing the truth of what happened to the unarmed children, women and men who were subject to inhumane and degrading treatment for exercising their legal, democratic rights to protest a government they believed to be corrupt. Human rights legislation states that it is the duty of every civilian to uphold human rights law and to protect people from such harm. Kayleigh acted in accordance with the law - not contrary to it. Despite reaching out to the UK government and her MP, she’s received no help. Now, as Sri Lanka transitions to a new president, there’s a narrow window to bring her home safely. Due to a combination of living in such extreme stress, substandard accommodations, and not being able to freely seek medical help for her symptoms, Kayleigh’s physical and mental health has significantly deteriorated. It is urgent that she is assisted. Please share her story, tag officials, and help spread the word to get her home safely. #BringKayleighFraserHome #HumanRights #FreedomOfSpeech

According to the Right to Information Act every state institution must maintain documents for 12 years, but The Police Department of Sri Lanka has informed the journalist Tharindu Jayawardhana in writing that they destroy all documents that are not related to existing court cases every 5 years. Lack of transparency within the government and state institutes is a serious issue that leads to corruption. Sri Lankan people deserve better. As citizens of Sri Lanka, we have a right not to be attacked with expired chemical weapons and we have a right to access information regarding such an attack. We deserve transparency and accountability from the government and state institutes. GOSL cannot continue to violate people's rights and hope to control people using fear.
