Looks like we might have another Chairman Campbell to Paxton type bribe on our hands. Only this time, it looks like it involves Governor Abbott and our groundwater rather than just a quarterback.

If HB 1690 had become law, groundwater transfers would have required notice to neighboring communities and groundwater districts which would have brought public scrutiny and opposition before the project even started.

Instead, TTU and Fermi just had to wait 6 weeks after signing the lease for the nearly unanimously supported bill to make it through the legislature, have Abbott veto it, make some 6 figure donations, and then announce Project Matador to the public. Then they could quietly begin construction without ever having to tell anyone how much water they were using and from where they were taking it.

Tell us you’re on a 3 year campaign stop without telling us you’re on a 3 year campaign stop.

We caught Chancellor Creighton in the halls of the Texas Capitol after the SB37 hearing this summer. We asked several questions including about his plans for the future which are oddly convenient for a 2030 campaign for a statewide Texas office.

Should we tell the @redraiderclub to prep their members to get ready for donor events? Chancellor Creighton is already hosting campaign events on campus this election cycle. Texas cannot afford TTU to be treated like a campaign stop. Stay tuned for more.
