Our 5th-grade orchestra students shared their musical talents with their families and teachers during a special informal concert this afternoon! 🎻🎶 Their performance featured three pieces they’ve been working on since January, and we couldn’t be prouder of their progress, focus, and collaboration. Now they’re ready to move on to more advanced music as they prepare for the big Spring Concert. Bravo to our young musicians!

They even invited a few special guests from the audience for a hilarious interactive boomwhacker performance of the winter classic, “Deck the Halls.”

Congratulations to Lennon Apple ’28 and Sebastian Martinez ’29 for their acceptance into the All-State Orchestra! They are the first KCD students accepted since 2019. 🎉🎻🎶 KMEA All-State Orchestra is a prestigious, statewide ensemble made up of the top high school musicians in Kentucky. Students earn their place through a competitive audition process and, if selected, participate in three days of rehearsal culminating in a performance at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. It’s an honor that recognizes outstanding musical skill, dedication, and achievement.

We’re so proud of you, Bearcats!

Last night, the Commons was transformed into a concert hall as our 5th Grade Orchestra wowed us with their growing musical talents! 🎻🎶 In just two months, these Bearcats have learned so much. A highlight of the evening came when the students became the teachers—inviting special guests from the audience to learn “Hot Cross Buns.” Those guests then took the “stage” for a joyful performance, while our young musicians proudly cheered them on!

Congratulations to our 5th-grade orchestra students on earning their “bow licenses” today! 🎻🪪 These Bearcats have been working through a series of exercises and safety training to earn this distinction. In a formal ceremony this afternoon, special guest Ms. Carey presented licenses to each student. We look forward to seeing these young musicians take the stage later this year!
