Eleven years ago, at 7:21pm EST in Norfolk, Virginia, GOD REALLY, TRULY was showing off by blessing us with this young, handsome fella. We decided to call him, Dondré...a name his Dad picked out and fought hard for to keep the tradition he had going with his sons and the letter 'D' and I chose to go with the flow. After all, my dreams and wishes of having MY VERY OWN SON had finally come true after ALLLLL THOSE YEARS. I no longer had to fall in love with other people's sons and have them break my heart if suddenly they weren't there. This baby was an EVENT, I have been dreamy-eyed and so drunk in love with my son ever since his arrival. His temperament as a baby was so calm. In fact, he's still the most laid back, easy to please, care-free kid I know. Wow, I can't believe eleven years have past. I can't concoct a word that would measure my unconditional love for this child if you paid me, it is...unreal. Every year I feel compelled to say this, so here goes, "It's NOT that I love my girls LESS, it's just that he's a BOY...the son I dreamed of and wished for my whole life and the bond between he and I is something so inexplicable that not even me, in my EXTREMELY LONG, ANNOYING pontifications on social media posts can describe it. It wouldn't compare to the feeling I get knowing that I, yes...plain old me, am his Mom. It feels SO GOOD to be loved the way this boy loves his mommy. Yep, the word "mommy" sounds like I've hit the powerball jackpot when my baby says it. Every morning when I see his face, I'm reminded of that unbelievable feeling I got when his daddy placed him in my arms for the very first time. I couldn't believe that he, the baby they told us wasn't a viable pregnancy and performed a d&c on...had not only SURVIVED but he ARRIVED and he was MINE. I just want to say thank you GOD for choosing me. I PRAY You continue to bless me with the privilege of loving my baby as hard as I can for a loooooooonnnggg, long time. It's so much fun. He never disappoints; the love he gets from everyone is because he's such a loving, respectful, mannerable, friendly, funny, thoughtful, COOL ASS KID! HAPPY 11TH BIRTHDAY, SON. 🎂🎈🎁🏀🏈🏅 #idoitjusttoannoyyou
