🌷#GPWM: Get Planting With Me! Part Two of my garden series with @brecks_bulbs 👩🏼‍🌾Today’s tulip takeover: 346 bulbs to plant, one sunny October day, and a beautiful vision for spring🩷🌿

🌿All the summer annuals have been removed, perennial plants cut back, and the garden beds at Maple Shade are now a blank canvas of soil 🎨

🧑‍🎨Imagination activated: Playing with tulip color combos & varieties, and plotting exactly where each bloom will pop up next spring. Think of it as decorating a garden six months in advance..

🪏Mission complete! Here are my twelve tulip varieties which are all tucked in underground until spring. And now… we wait!🌷

🌷 Royal Acres
🌷 Blushing Beauty
🌷 Whipped Cream
🌷 Angelique
🌷 Raspberry Snow
🌷 Queensland
🌷 Parrot Pink Vision
🌷 Ice Cream
🌷 Dreamer
🌷 Cabanna Parrot
🌷 La Delicatesse
🌷 Negrita Double

🤍🌿A hydrangea season that could last all year? …yes please! Loving this pretty new Eternity Hydrangea Collection from @venusetfleur ~ beautifully preserved hydrangeas selected at peak bloom from botanical farms in Ecuador, paired with ladylike floral porcelain pieces for the house🤍 Maybe I won’t miss my garden quite as much this fall?

🍂 Fall decor, but make it my style ~ orange pumpkins & red mums aren’t my thing so I give the season a Maple Shade vibe with English ivy, pink & white heather, baby greenery, Montauk daisies, pink mums, purple kale, white pumpkins & Brady’s carnival squash 🌿 I carry the decor poolside because we swim through October as our gardens slowly go to sleep 😢🍂 💤

When in Rome, I love staying in Regola or Parione, two of the 22 rioni that make up the historic center. Roscioli locations are close, along with excellent restaurants and some of the city’s best independent shops.
I stroll via Giulia in the morning or after dinner. It’s one of Rome’s more beautiful historic streets, lined with Renaissance palazzi, churches, antique shops and ivy-covered façades, and runs parallel to the Tiber just west of Campo de’ Fiori.

In Regola, via di Monserrato is particularly good for shopping. You’ll find boutiques, artisan workshops, jewelry, art and beautifully curated homewares without the swarms of tourists. @chezdede is my go-to for gifts (I bought @kdhamptons a pair of their ultra-soft French pjs yesterday), along with a handful of other shops that make the street worth exploring.

A few others I like:

@antichikimono.roma
@il_paralume_1960
@soledad.twombly

This was my third stay at La Posta Vecchia but first time with my sister @kdhamptons. 💃 We’ve been traveling together forever and have amazing memories (and some epic battles 🤣) of beautiful places, countries and hotels. This trip was one of our favorites: Forte dei Marmi, La Posta Vecchia and Rome.

Since this was Getty’s private home, all of the rooms and suites are different and have their own personality and layout. The bathrooms vary but all share travertine, marble, antique mirrors and whimsical features. The Castello Suite has a green marble, clam-shaped sink with carved lion’s feet.

The Medici Suite is gorgeous (the room of Getty’s mistress), and has a famous pink bathtub and twin marble staircases. The Tower Suites are nice, but one has more light. Ours is the Getty Suite.

Just an FYI, if you stay here, it’s an “on-campus”experience, as there isn’t much to see in the surrounding area. It’s only 30 mins to Rome FCO so a lot of people come for a few nights before flying out. ✈️

Arrivederci! Off to Roma. 🇮🇹
