“Your tattoos are amazing, mate…”

Keith Colwill was working as an extra on Fighting with My Family when Stephen Merchant spotted his tattoos.

There was one problem…

His entire arm is basically Wolverine. 😂

Merchant started chatting to Keith about them before suddenly pulling out his phone.

Keith thought he was talking to him.

“You talking to me?”

“No, no… I’m talking to Hugh.”

Then Stephen Merchant turned the phone around…

Hugh Jackman was on FaceTime. 🐺

Hugh complimented Keith’s tattoos.

Keith’s response?

“Bye.”

😂😂😂

Not because he was starstruck…

But because the man whose character was tattooed all over his arm was suddenly on his phone.

“I didn’t know what to do with myself.”

“I would have done that film for nothing…”

Keith Colwill spent around 12 days on the set of The Expendables 4 with Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham.

But the money wasn’t the memorable part.

Keith ended up spending around an hour chatting with Stallone on set.

And somehow the conversation turned to professional wrestling.

They talked about Hulk Hogan, Rocky III, and Stallone’s love of wrestling.

Then Keith asked him a question:

“I know how to throw a gimmick punch in wrestling… but I don’t know how to do it in films.”

So what did Rocky do?

He showed him. 🥊

Keith’s description of the moment says everything:

“It was surreal. It was properly surreal.”

🔥 S2 EP5 — THIS THURSDAY 🔥

BOUNCERS. GANGSTERS. WRESTLERS.

This week on Pit Yakka Craic, we bring you Part 2 of The Keith Colwill Story.

Before the name Keith Colwill became known for some of the wildest stories we’ve heard on Pit Yakka, there was another character…

RUFFNECK. 💥

British professional wrestler.
Bouncer.
And a man who’s lived a life full of stories.

Part 2 takes us deeper into the world behind the character — the people, the places, the madness and the moments that helped shape Keith’s journey.

No script.
No judgement.
Just Keith telling it exactly how it was.

“It’s like Route 66 on my head.” 😳

Keith Colwill pulls back the curtain on one of the darker sides of professional wrestling.

Getting “colour” — deliberately bleeding during a match — was part of the business.

Keith explains how wrestlers would use different gimmicks to make sure the blood came…

…and then tells the story of the time it went very, very wrong.

A blade.
A fallen wrestler.
Someone trying to help him back up.

And suddenly Keith had a cut running “east to west” across his head.

Sonny’s reaction says it all:

“Give over, man…” 😳

You genuinely couldn’t make some of these stories up.

“The Underfaker.” 😂

Before Ruffneck became Ruffneck, Keith Colwill was making a name for himself in the wrestling world.

He tells us about Pain Ink, his tag team with Sabotage — a man who was apparently a dead ringer for The Undertaker.

Keith’s nickname for him?

The Underfaker. 🤣

But Keith realised the powerhouse approach had its limitations.

Then came Joey Hayes.

Keith describes the new partnership as their version of the Hart Foundation — power and speed.

Keith brought the power.
Joey brought the speed.

And suddenly, the matches became something very different.

Then Stu asks the question…

“Is this stuff on YouTube?”

Keith’s answer:

“Pain Ink versus The Chavs.”

From “Switch” to “Ruffneck” — the story behind the name.

Before he became Ruffneck, Keith Colwill had a completely different character in mind.

Inspired by Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ Big Chris, Keith was originally going to be a mercenary-style “tweener” — neither good nor bad, just loyal to whoever paid him.

But there was one problem…

The name “Switch” was already taken.

So Keith went back to his offshore days.

The drillers were known as Roughnecks.

And just like that…

Ruffneck was born.

Another brilliant story from Keith Colwill.

🏠 “I would literally take any job that was available just to get back home.”

For Keith Colwill, getting older has changed the way he looks at home.

After years away, working the doors, security and getting back into welding after nearly 30 years out of the trade, Keith talks about wanting to return to the North East.

Because sometimes, no matter where life takes you…

Home is home.

Keith opens up about the reality of starting again, the welding trade, his qualifications and why he’d take any job available if it meant getting back home.

It’s a brilliant insight into the man behind the stories.

❤️🖤 “When the club’s doing well, the city does well.”

Keith Colwill talks about the incredible relationship between Sunderland AFC and the city of Sunderland.

Having seen the city during the difficult post-Covid period, Keith remembers it feeling like a ghost town.

Fast forward to now… Keel Square, the bars, the new bridge, Sheepfolds and thousands of people coming into the city on a matchday.

Because in Sunderland, football isn’t just football.

It’s part of the identity of the city.

As Sonny says, it’s almost a symbiotic relationship:

⚽ When the club thrives, the city thrives.
🏙️ When the city thrives, people want to be there.
❤️🖤 And when people are there, the football becomes even more important.

💥 “The only man I know who can dodge bullets has got a big S on his chest…”

Keith Colwill takes us back to one of the more dangerous moments from his years working the doors in Manchester.

After a group had been thrown out of a venue, the lads on the radios warned that things might get “a bit hairy”.

Keith and a fellow doorman went belting down the road to get there…

Then they heard the gunshots. 😳

Cue a very quick change of direction! 😂

Keith’s description of the two of them running down the road like Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal Weapon is absolutely priceless.

And his conclusion?

🦸‍♂️ “The only man I know who can dodge bullets has got a big S on his chest and a big red cape… and I said, that’s not me.”
