We enjoyed the show a lot and it brought up a lot of memories of my Chanhassen days with Jay and Michelle and Jeune Lune days with Bradley. And such a joy to see them with Tod, Jen and Joenathan! And Sanford in the pit playing Beethoven!! I know my sense of time is warped but since Mars is almost 20, it must have been at least that long since I performed with them…!!!??? It was super inspiring to say the least and so good to see this show as it was funny and also heartfelt and sincere.💖🙌🎉

We closed BALL last night at Artistry.

My biggest fear about coming back to this script after all this time was that it would feel like reheated nachos — maybe still tasty but not nearly as good as it was. And yes, retelling the story of my experience did feel (in a good way) a little like opening a time capsule from ten years ago, but I was so relieved to find out that the show’s message still filled my heart and resonated with those who heard it.

I have immense and many-layered gratitude for our team who made this production come to life — especially Kelli, Eric, Katie, and the whole Artistry staff and board, Grant and Nick ensuring with their keen eyes and ears that I could be seen and heard, Christian for her dedication, organization, and big sweet heart, Walter for bringing his divine musicianship and deep insight, and of course my soul-friend and great love Nikki for believing in the story from day one and harnessing with her magic all that’s human about it and me and us — and for the audiences that spent a little time with me.

Please don’t forget to fondle your balls. 🩵

Art=Heart!

Come to @artistry_mn in Bloomington this summer for a fresh exhibit by @luisfitch and @taveraxavier ‘La Lucha Sigue/The Struggle Continues’, until 8/30.

What I loved about this dual exhibit was that each artist independently created works that had parallel reflections of their Mexican heritage & identity- how powerful memories and myths can make our inner landscapes!
