Day 4. 2km at Annette Kellerman Pool this morning. Forgot my lap counter watch, bugger. Luckily Annette just got a new digital clock. How hard can it be to count 40 laps and use the clock as your pacer. Turns out quite hard! Required my best concentration 😳 Anyway I did it.

Annette Kellerman is one of my idols. An incredible life story of determination. As a child she pushed through illness by swimming. In the pool she built her strength and smashed records, also challenging the image and place of women in society at the time and with a little glamour and sparkle on stage and screen. Popped across the road from the pool to have today’s snap with some lovely local street art in her honour @kellwallwork

And for the book lovers here, would recommend @grantleekiezaauthor biography of Annette. She’s an inspiration for me.

Thanks folks for cheering me on for a great cause! Link in bio if you are keen to sponsor my challenge💖 @gothedistance_cobl @chris_obrien_lifehouse

52km to go 🐳💦

A pleasure to be a part of the @sydneycommunitycollege one day Mural workshop and be inspired by @kellwallwork's amazing journey and work throughout her art career! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

It has been a hot minute (actually many years) picking up a paint brush and getting my hands messy with paint. Time went by so quick and wish I could somehow take the whole piece back home to finish it off.

Many lessons were learnt along the way from my mistakes which made me appreciate the skills of a muralist.

Would definitely recommend doing something like this - that is out of your comfort zone.

It was a very rewarding and fun experience, meeting and connecting with all the other talented artists on the day.

🖼️ What Women Love by Kelly Wallwork
📍 Wilcox Lane • August 2023

For International Women's Day we're honouring Annette Kellerman, an Australian swimmer with an unparalleled energy and has been likened to Venus, a pioneer in liberating women's beach attire, and was once recognised as the greatest female distance swimmer in the world.
Though she has passed just over 50 years ago, her marvel and extraordinary life transformed female swimmers and continues to inspire today.
"I want to help all women to become as perfect in every way... as Nature meant them to be... What I have done for myself I can also do for you."

🖼️ Repair Reuse Recycle
🖌️ Kelly Wallwork
📍 Inner West Sustainability Hub
📅 August 2025

A colourful entrance artwork at the Inner West Sustainability Hub on the traditional lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples. Through repair and reuse, The Bower brings the vintage back into the contemporary, and Bower Bikes is open for repairs and tune ups.
A pleasure to meet Kelly earlier this afternoon as she signed off the artwork. Looking forward to when our paths next cross!

Over the weekend I dived into the new book about Annette Kellerman, the Australian mermaid. Reminded me about this super street art by @kellwallwork in the laneway near the local pool, that’s named after this swimming and film icon. Looking forward to catching @grantleekiezaauthor on his author talk lap soon 📕🧜‍♀️
