TOMORROW!! Come out to The Warbler & see the incredible Kelly Grace Thomas read from her stunning, brand-new poetry collection, FUTURE TENSE. I’ll be warming up the crowd beforehand with fellow local poets Carolee Bennett and Jill Crammond. It’s going to be a (bittersweet & red) party!! Come on out!! ❤️💋🌹 I just decided on the poems I’m going to read! THE MOTHER’s character description is not one of them, but I’ll be reading a poem from that section of BURNING THE GHOST LIGHT (& a poem from my first book, & a poem nobody’s ever read before). I’m jazzed!!

Kelly Grace Thomas released her much anticipated second poetry collection this week, Future Tense (Alice James Books), an elegantly crafted narrative about the speaker's journey to motherhood as she's losing her own mother to uterine cancer. Each section of Future Tense recounts a year—starting with a new marriage, a desire to have children, and a longing to be closer to loved ones. As time passes, that dream becomes more complex. For anyone who has experienced infertility or lost a parent to cancer, this collection chronicles both in achingly beautiful verse. While the physical movement builds real strength and mobility, the most meaningful threads yoga weaves into our lives show up off the mat: in our patience, our presence, our breath, and our contentment. We become a little less reactive and a little more patient, connected, and grateful to be living in moments we once only imagined for ourselves. How does yoga show up in your day-to-day? Do you ever notice how yoga shows up for you in ordinary, yet extraordinary ways?
