The Robert and Gennie DeWeese is pleased to announce the exhibition a memory of sky on linoleum, artwork by Kelly Packer and words by Adrian Kien, October 26th to December 4th.
This project consists of paintings inspired by houses in Centerville, a neighborhood on the slopes of the Butte Hill. The work goes house by house through this historical, dense neighborhood. And into the missing teeth between.
This work leans into the recognizable, but it is as imperfect as a memory. “I am not attempting to capture things exactly as they are, but rather the lived experience of the landscape. Dramatic color heightens emotion and provides places to wander.”
“The paintings are paired with poetry by my husband, Adrian Kien. We’ve been collaborating for 20 years. His words bring a dimension to the work that I cannot anticipate. And finish the started sentence.”
Kelly Packer is a visual artist and web developer living in Butte, Montana. A graduate of the University of Montana, her work has appeared in galleries, books, and literary journals from Massachusetts to Ontario. She often collaborates with her husband, poet Adrian Kien, combining words and images in projects inspired by their adopted home, Butte, America.

I had a great time catching up with Merckx, aka The Butte Kid, and his dad Adrian at PBurg. Merckx is 8 years old and has been skating for a year.

So excited to have acquired this beautiful piece by @kellypacker

I met Kelly and her husband @kienadrian during my residency in Butte Montana back in 2015 and I fell I love with her work back then. I’m thrilled to get to live with this one…the first piece of art to hang in my new place!

Check out Kelly’s work and give her a follow.
