I absolutely loved this one! 🖤 Twisty, tense and impossible to put down (I might have even finished it early) it’s another win from Jennifer Hillier, who I have yet to read a book by that I haven’t loved.

Next month I can’t wait to buddy read Freak with you all again! 👀🔥

For this week’s #OldSkoolChallengeClub post, get your cauldron ready for a magic potion!

☀️This potion must be brewed in full SUNSHINE after the FIRST FROST of autumn.

🧙🏼Spread a DEERSKIN at the LAKESEDGE, lay your cauldron upon it, and add:
🥀1 rose THORN
🪻2 UPROOTED lavender plants
🍑3 overripe fruits from THE PEACH KEEPER
🪶9 feathers from OTHER BIRDS (do not use any from your STARLING HOUSE as they are too potent)

🔥BURN the contents for only 3 seconds in a FLASH FIRE

📚‘What have you done’ by Shari Lapena 📚

🩸The opening chapter of this book immediately draws you in and creates intrigue. A naked girl’s body has been discovered in a farmer’s field- Diana has been murdered. Readers are thrown into a ‘who dunnit’ scenario where the majority of characters are under suspicion.

🩷I enjoyed the short punchy chapters in this book which made it an easy read. There were numerous suspects who were all under suspicion for different reasons until near to the end of the book. I liked Diana’s perspective of looking down on everyone after her death in a ghost form. It was interesting to get her insights as she tried to piece together what had happened to her and who had murdered her.

🕵🏻‍♀️I thought I had the right suspect until the twist at the end where I realised that although the suspect I had in mind was a very shady character, they were not the culprit and as usual, I was wrong (I’d be a shocking detective!).

Although this was an enjoyable easy read, there were times when I felt the pace was a little slow for my liking.

Yay it’s the weekend and I’ve just dropped the boys off at cub camp for the night. That means I can really get stuck into day two of this buddy read hosted by @x_charlieeexbooks_x . So far day one has just left me with a lot of unanswered questions and no clue as to what has happened, who did it and why!
