23 Capital Drive

I’ve been thinking about what to say for a while now but no words seem to fit how I feel about moving out of 23 Capital Drive. And before I close the door for good on 23 Capital, I can’t help but stop to take some space to honor where we started and where we came from.

Just over 5 years ago, Kevin and I opened Underdog Fitness at 23 Capital Drive and it quickly became our home away from home. When we first started we didn’t have a gym name, colors, logo, anything, just a grand vision to help people in their fitness journey and to grow and support athletes around the world. Little did we know what that would actually mean and transform into.

I have had some of the greatest memories at 23 Capital. We have met strangers who turned into family, hosted countless races where we got hundreds of athletes to a finish line, had some very fun holiday parties, and of course laughed a lot, sweat a lot and continued to dream bigger and bigger for what Underdog could grow to become.

When the talk of moving started we were overwhelmed with excitement since moving means being able to help more people in more ways, but I never stopped to sit and really comprehend what that means for 23 Capital. I mean common Jess, it’s pretty obvious right? Moving into a new place means leaving the one you are currently in. While the build was slow, the move itself was quick fast and in a hurry. We found out on a Monday afternoon that we needed to be out by that Friday afternoon. Essentially giving me no time to sit and feel the feelings about leaving the place that has been home to so many for so many years. And overnight my happy place was packed up and brought to a new space. So recently I have been feeling pretty sad while also overwhelmingly happy. I love our new space! Our new space is big and bold, just like us! And every time I walk into it, it feels right! It feels like we are meant to be in there! It is all the same feelings I had when Kevin told me he wanted to open a gym. And yes we are moving right next door and so while I will always be able to visit 23 Capital, I am excited to see what 21 Capital has in store for us!

Much needed back to back weekends away to fill my cup. First was @hyroxamerica Boston with @underdog.fitness.gym & @anthony_coluccio_jr (you're welcome for carrying the team for a 4th time 😂) and then I got to run my solo race and cheer on lots of friends! Then I got to enjoy some sun & relaxation in Florida ☀️ ! And play some bingo with the old folks! Feeling blessed to be able to compete and enjoy these moments with amazing people.

THREE RACES. ONE WEEKEND. AND A REMINDER THAT PROGRESS ISN’T ALWAYS MEASURED IN PODIUMS.

What started as two races turned into three after a change of plans, and honestly, what a weekend it turned out to be.

THE RESULTS 👇

⚡️ Mixed Doubles
57:58 | NEW PR 🔥
4th AG | 13th Overall

⚡️ Mixed Relay
58:00
🥉 3rd Overall

⚡️ Pro Men’s Doubles
1:01:24
7th AG | 44th Overall

One of the highlights? Getting to share the course with an ALL-TIME GREAT, @lauren_a_griffith . 🐐🔥 An opportunity I don’t take for granted, and one hell of an experience that’s for sure!

But beyond the results, this weekend gave me something else to appreciate.

A new PR in mixed doubles. And a time comparable to my Pro Men’s Doubles result as a lead man last season that felt relatively easy this time around.

That’s growth. That’s the work paying off.

It’s easy to get caught up in chasing podiums and measuring every weekend by where you finish. I’m competitive, and that hunger isn’t going anywhere. But I’m learning to give myself grace and recognize progress even when the results aren’t exactly what I hoped for.

Sometimes, the biggest win is realizing how far you’ve come.

Three races, incredible people, a fun relay, and a little sneak peek of what’s coming with the DEKA FIT duo in December @jdelorie

Still hungry. Still learning. Still getting better.

I am fast! I am strong! I belong!

THE SEASON IS JUST GETTING STARTED. See you guys in Tampa 🌴
