⚡️Ashtanga Yoga Atlanta’s next Beginner Course starts on Sunday, March 8th.

Link to register can be found @ashtangayogaatlanta

Course meets every Sunday from 4:00-5:30pm.

If you are interested in starting an Ashtanga practice, this course will help you establish a solid foundation.

AYA's Beginner Course is the best way to begin learning the practice of Ashtanga Yoga.

Ashtanga Yoga is an in-depth and dynamic yoga practice, so your first steps forward should be well-informed and thorough. The practice is best learned in small increments for effective progress, which is why we highly recommend all students with limited Ashtanga experience to start with our Beginner Course. This way, you will receive all the important information and tools required to reap the greatest benefits from your practice. Even if you have prior yoga experience with other forms of yoga, we still suggest you begin with this course.

🔹 The course is broken down into 4 segments. Every Sunday from 4:00-5:30 PM, you will have a new course segment.

🔹 For 4 weeks, you will build on and learn the first 1/2 of Primary series, the posture names in Sanskrit, the Sanskrit vinyasa count for Primary Series, learn about the importance of Tristana (three points of focus), and have a brief introduction into the yoga philosophy as written by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.

🔹 There are now two price options to choose from.
- Option 1: Includes unlimited Mysore classes with the course tuition. This option is for those who want to attend Mysore classes in conjunction with the course.
- Option 2: Lower rate tuition that doesn't include Mysore classes. This option is for those who are not interested in attending morning Mysore classes during the duration of the course.

had the blessing of honoring my best friend and all of her years in New Orleans last month. what a sacred and beautiful place— the perfect place to celebrate with my Kelsie!!!

Kelsie, you’re the light of my life. My family!!!!
Thank you for loving me through thick and thin and showing me what life is really about. For being both my example and my worst influence. For being hilarious and kind and also such a little meanie. You’re my everything in and more and having to be without you for the past 3 weeks has been HELL on earth but I know we’ll be together again soon 🩵 and I’ll make sure to pretend I see a ghost behind you in every single lifetime

I love u my little corn husk 🌽

Thank you for another meaningful day of community-building in service of a better world, Atlanta. It was so fun to tell new friends about the library, see all our favorite familiar faces, share knowledge, and be among other organizers and movement workers at Community Connect Fest 2025. You checked out tens of books and helped us raise nearly $400 for @thesameerproject Palestinian mutual aid in just a few short hours. Thank you so much for having us at @themurphatl @atlantaalliance @atlanta4palestine @frsoatlanta @atldemsoc 💓

Photos from Saturday’s Mass Mobilization and Day of Resistance. We gathered in Old Fourth Ward Skatepark in honor of the two year anniversary since Tortuguita was murdered. On January 18, 2023, Manuel Paez Terán, lovingly known as Tortuguita, was ambushed and violently executed by Georgia State Police while defending the Weelaunee South River Forest against the proposed Cop City facility. On the morning of the 18th, police were executing a raid of the camp to knock down structures and remove protestors in what led to Tortuguita’s murder. The 18th has been dubbed “Day of the Forest Defender” in their memory.

We gathered to sing movement songs, hear from Atlanta’s leading activists, from Tort’s mom, and to build community with each other as the country inches closer to fascism.

In 2016, I remember feeling utter despair. This year, I feel ready to create, connect, and fight for what‘s right — from the newsroom and classroom to the forest. Join us?

Photos from Saturday’s Mass Mobilization & Day of Resistance in honor of our late forest defender #Tortuguita 🐢. Thank you for hosting this beautiful community gathering and march @dickensvsdemocracy / People’s Campaign and thank you to all who visited the library, checked out a book, donated literature, and of course to all who helped us raise money for Palestinian families. Long live the resistance from Atlanta to 🇵🇸. See you soon 🫡

Today, thanks to your generous donations, we were able to cook rice and distribute it to displaced people who are facing real famine due to the blockade, high prices and lack of aid. Despite our efforts, we were not able to reach everyone, as the need is much greater than our capabilities. The situation in Gaza is getting worse by the day, and every day that passes is an opportunity to save lives. We appeal to you to continue donating and contributing in any way you can, because every step makes a difference. Gaza needs you now more than ever, and we will not be able to do more without you. GOT BRACELETS? All our Pali bracelets are community-made or donated and we love how the collection is different each time we pop-up—thanks to YOU! The library sells these bracelets as part of our ongoing fundraiser for Gaza with 100% going to Palestinian families and mutual aid orgs on the ground. Just bring your goodies by and drop them into our bracelet basket 🤗

Note: Proof of each donation is at refaatlibrary.com/gaza-funds. The library does not and will not hold onto a penny. With your help, we’ve been able to send nearly $36,000 to several families in GZ thus far. We can and should all do more. Got BRACELETS?
