Another day in Paradise meeting @JakieWilson’s daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law who bought my book The Journey Of Transformation, and I signed it.
There was a book signing event that made me feel so good about the opportunity to talk about my books and meet famous people.
I feel so grateful and thankful for this, and I will be singing and signing books very soon again.

This bunch is going to be hard to say goodbye to. I don’t want to think about not seeing these faces in the classrooms and hallways. But their bright futures await- and it was such a privilege to be a part of their shimmering life journeys. Go make that kaleidoscope, you guys… I see all your colors. 🌈🎶

the architecture of failure — by Regina Berra
sounds kinda cool huh?🤪

18 drafts, 6 different endings, 100 breakdowns, 1 message to give.
This play will always have a very special place in my heart, not only because its the first play i ever wrote, but because between the first table reading and the closing performance I became a different writer, actor, and person.
I learned soo much about myself while writing it, i learned about my characters through my amazing cast reading them for the first time, i learned from my directors as they took something that existed only in my mind and taught me how to see it differently, i learned from the other playwrights as we sat in rehearsals and watched each other’s worlds take shape, i learned from every actor as i watched all of these stories grow into something alive, and i learned from my own play by watching an audience sit with it, laugh with it, hurt with it, and decide what it means to them.
I go back and read my old drafts and it’s insane to see how much this play grew from draft 1 to draft 18, the tiny notes, jokes, little pieces of dialogue that somehow survived every rewrite, ideas that i had to completely reinvent.
Most of what i’m sharing here didn’t make it to the final cut, some of it was rewritten, some of it was abandoned (some of it definitely deserved to be abandoned lol) but every time i read an old draft, i find something new, a version i had forgotten, a choice i no longer agree with, an idea that became something else entirely.
I wanted to share those versions too because they are a part of this play just as much as the final one. Because a play doesn’t only exist in the final version, it exists in every bad line that led to the right one, every ending that had to die for another one to exist, every version that almost was.

“Maybe that’s what the architecture of failure is, not the fall, not the review, not the night everything breaks. Maybe it is the life we build while waiting to become real, and the terror of realizing we were real the whole time.” — Kiara shout out to Paul Eve Leon and Owen @amdaofficial 💜

Thank you Summer fest!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗This was a learning experience indeed.
Aside from the experience and maturity gained from this, this process truly gifted me by bringing wonderful people into my life who were already around me but I hadn’t been able to truly appreciate. Such an astounding amount of talent, creativity and determination was way beyond the size of 8W. I loved my cast with my soul and my bones, all the obstacles we faced together did nothing but enrich our work tremendously. My fellow writers with who I shared laughs, Oreos and ideas of revolution. Thank you for your raging support! This project also reaffirmed inside me that I will choose to be Mexican in every lifetime. I’m proud of all the colors and cultural richness that flows through my veins, so I’ll always put my heart into truthfully representing the beautiful country I was born in. (Thanks to everyone involved for making that possible) Last but not least, I want to thank my family who allowed me to share this wonderful tradition mixed with a very personal human story. To everyone who watched it, thank you for showing us so much love🧡 Si se puede y si se pudo! 💪🏽 📸Pictures by the one and only: @hopemdk
