In this edition of [Reimagining Fashion Leadership], I explore a question that I kept reflecting on throughout Graduate Fashion Week in London: how much potential exists beyond the industry's usual centres of attention?

Fashion has become highly effective at identifying trends, forecasting consumer behaviour and tracking cultural shifts. Yet when it comes to talent, opportunity often remains concentrated within a small number of cities, institutions and networks. Visibility and access are not distributed equally, even though talent is.

Throughout the week, I met students from across the United Kingdom presenting work, pitching ideas and navigating the transition from education into industry. Many had travelled significant distances to be there. Some spoke openly about the financial and geographical barriers that continue to shape who gets access to opportunities, professional networks and industry experiences.

The experience reinforced two ideas that have increasingly informed my work: the Invisible Majority and the Invisible Curriculum. There is far more talent than we often allow ourselves to see, and many of the lessons that shape careers continue to exist outside formal education, acquired through mentorship, exposure and proximity to opportunity.

In this essay, I reflect on Graduate Fashion Week, the Fashion Accelerator, Careers Quarter and why access remains one of the most important conversations facing the future of fashion.
