Did you know that in this Colombian archipelago there is a festival dedicated to keeping the maritime wisdom of the Raizal People alive? 🏝️⛵️

In San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, the sea is more than a landscape: it is pathway, food, memory, school and a living territory. For generations, the Raizal People have passed down knowledge of winds, currents and tides, along with fishing, sailing and traditional boat-building skills.

From August 22–29, we invite you to discover and celebrate this living knowledge at the 8th Traditional Navigation Festival of the Insular Caribbean: Di Sii Da Fi Piknini – The Sea Belongs to the Children. 👧🏾🧒🏽⛵

Because this year, we sail for those who will inherit the sea. 💙

⛵️ ¡El mar nos vuelve a reunir!

Este sábado 22 de agosto damos apertura al VIII Festival de Navegación Tradicional del Caribe Insular – “Di Sii Da Fi Piknini / El mar es de l@s niñ@s”, compartiendo nuestra agenda 🗓️🎉celebrando nuestra memoria, cultura y conexión ancestral con el mar. 💙⛵️

Iniciamos en San Andrés Isla con una noche de Fare & Dance Tradicional, un encuentro para compartir nuestra música, danza, gastronomía y alegría Raizal. 🥁💃🏾🌴

📍 Sector Barkers Hill, Segunda Entrada, frente a la Casa Naelita Martínez
🕖 7:00 p.m.

Del 22 al 26 de agosto, las actividades recorrerán San Andrés, y del 27 al 29 de agosto el Festival continuará en Providencia y Santa Catalina, llevando nuestros saberes de isla en isla. 🌊

Y cerraremos esta VIII edición como mejor sabemos hacerlo: ¡en el mar! ⛵️🔥 Con la gran final del VI Campeonato de Cotton Boats y la esperada Regata de nuestros tradicionales Catboats, celebrando a nuestros navegantes, constructores y sabedores y la transmisión de este patrimonio a las nuevas generaciones. 🌊 Di Sii Da Fi Piknini — El mar es de l@s niñ@s.
Porque nuestros conocimientos siguen navegando cuando pasan de una generación a otra.

📜Every story we share strengthens our collective memory, our identity, and our voice as the Raizal People.

In this video, we introduce Creole Narratives, a project by One Raizal Corporation and the Pontifica Javeriana University that brings together the voices, experiences, and reflections of Raizal men and women from different perspectives and generations to explore what it means to be Raizal, the challenges we face, and the actions we take to protect our rights, our culture, and our territory.

Because our stories deserve to be told by those who live them✊🏾

Mi mayor orgullo como mujer Raizal es amar, honrar y proteger este territorio, sus aguas, su cultura y su gente. Un territorio que nos sostiene, nos enseña y que también nos protege. 🏝️🤎

What a powerful experience it was to come together as young Raizal creators, storytellers, and guardians of our heritage. 🌊✨

Over these days, we reflected on who we are, where we come from, and the stories that have shaped our islands. We spoke about our culture, our language, our maritorio, our memories, and our responsibility to future generations.

Through storytelling, photography, video, and collective reflection, we explored how our voices are tools for resistance, preservation, and transformation. Because protecting our Maritory also means telling our stories.

As Raizal youth, we are not only inheriting a legacy—we are actively shaping the future we want to leave behind. A future where our culture thrives, our sea is protected, our language is spoken proudly, and our communities continue to tell their own stories.

May we never forget that every story shared is an act of memory, identity, and love for our people. 💙
