AI Film in the Chinese theater.
When you go to Hollywood Blvd’s most famous cinema to see a movie…
and realize you’re making it tonight, with the rest of the audience
that’s what the Play Economy means in practice. #playeconomy

Can’t stop freaking out that the film we made is going to IMAX! TODAY until Aug 20th - imax.com/aiff

See EMERGENCE, a mixed media AI film, along with 9 other beautiful AI works in 10 THEATERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. It’s an honor to be among such talented artists, like @jacob__adler @andrewtsalter and @valleeduhamel who made such moving work.

This film started off as just an experiment with friends @__juliaharris__ , @lostless.visuals, @rakelle_backlotai , @kenbot but it truly feels like a major step along the journey of developing my voice as an artist. AI is truly only one tool in that journey. This experience only encourages me to keep pushing!

I’m going to spend the next few days processing what I witnessed tonight.

Being invited to the @runwayapp AIFF festival was a true highlight.

I’ve got so much to learn, but I’m not scared. I’m inspired. I’m going back into the lab to keep creating, keep experimenting, and push even further.

This space feels like home. And tonight was honestly one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time.

PS-I’m finally able to share more than 10 pics in a carousel so you know I ain’t lying. Tonight was a NIGHT! 🤣❤️😍

Tonight our film will have its world premiere in New York City to A SOLD-OUT AUDIENCE AT THE LINCOLN CENTER. THE LINCOLN CENTER.

Out of over 6000 entries, our short film EMERGENCE was selected as a TOP 10 Finalist in Runway’s 3rd annual AI Film Fest.

I still can’t believe it.

To have an idea that sparked the interest of @__juliaharris__ , @lostless.visuals, @kenbot, @rakelle_backlotai enough to want to lend their artistic talents for a month. To then jointly create something that resonated with A-list judges enough to believe it was worth sharing on a global stage. To now this moment. In a few hours, I get to watch our work, our little bug movie, play on the big screen to a SOLD-OUT LINCOLN CENTER.

Official winners and prizes will be announced tonight, but right now, this moment is worth the world. I never thought I could get here as a filmmaker, and I for sure NEVER imagined it would be thanks to AI.

Thanks again to the core team: @__juliaharris__ - editing/camera maestro
@lostless.visuals - music & bug LoRA master
@kenbot & @rakelle_backlotai - AI artists & dirt experts

And thank you to @twerkingisnotacrime for saving our shots with 3D animation, @pzahnley for the killer sound upmix, @negative_space for the probe lens, @dgordonfilm and @grover.neville for the creative guidance, @machinecinema for bringing our team together, and @runwayapp for creating this opportunity.

See you next week, LA!

3 months ago, I asked @__juliaharris__ @porterx_porter @kenbot and @rakelle_backlotai if they wanted to make a film about a bug.

And now, out of thousands of submissions, it's a finalist in Runway's 3rd Annual AI Film Festival! aiff.runwayml.com ✨

I feel incredibly honored and starstruck that our little film about bugs, dirt, and the meaning of life moved these esteemed jurors (including some personal creative heroes). This project was more than an "AI Film." We combined our tools as filmmakers, storytellers, and technologists - shot photography, music production, LoRAs, and constant iteration - to evoke emotion and tell a story in a "tiny" perspective that is so rarely explored. Thank you, @runwayapp , for the competition and the tools that made our project possible! 💖 🪲 🪰 💗

Come see the premiere of EMERGENCE, and the other finalist films, in NYC and LA this June!

I was honored to be selected as one of the 50 creators to compete in the first ever hashtag#CulverCup GenAi short film competition as part of hashtag#LATechWeek. We didn't make the final 8, but my friend @hmdehong Hong won 2nd Place! Had a lot of fun and learned a lot making this with @rakelle_backlotai and @kenbot. Thanks to @awsstartups Startups and @fbrcai for hosting this fabulous event and thanks to @luma_ai AI, @playbook3d 3D and @elevenlabsio for sponsoring.

The surprise fun of this was performing all the voices myself and then transforming them with @ElevenLabs.

Now that the event is over we are free to share on socials, and as a bonus this does have a "spooky season" theme to it so we have submitted it to the @Curious Refuge Horror Short film competition.

Enjoy!
