My baking journey began during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Schools were shut down, ASUU was on strike, and it felt like the perfect time to learn a skill.
Through a family friend, I was introduced to a baker who agreed to train me. I trained for about two to three months before ASUU called off the strike. That meant my baking training had to come to an abrupt pause.
Once school resumed, academic demands took over, and I never had the opportunity to go back and complete my training.
So, I built my business on the little I had learned. Looking back, it has been one of the most fulfilling decisions I’ve ever made. But deep down, I always knew the knowledge I had wasn’t enough to take my business to where I envisioned it. I wanted more—not because what I knew wasn’t valuable, but because I knew where God was taking Beltel Cakes.
I don’t just want to own a bakery. I want to build an exceptional one—a business with capacity, excellence, and systems that will stand the test of time.
For years, I dreamed of training at @bakhitas_academy It was a desire I carried quietly because the resources to make it happen always seemed out of reach.
Last year, I even applied for a scholarship to train at the academy. I wasn’t selected. It was disappointing, but I refused to let that be the end of the story. The dream was still alive—I just had to trust God’s timing.
This year, I made a decision: I would do everything within my power to make that dream a reality.
I wasn’t lucky. It took years of persistence, disappointments, waiting, praying, sacrificing, and refusing to let go of the vision God placed in my heart.
And even when the opportunity finally came, it wasn’t without challenges. My NYSC Passing Out Parade (POP) date clashed with the start of my training, so I resumed class three days after the program had already begun. Immediately after my POP, I packed my bags and left for training. Every sacrifice was worth it. What once felt like a distant dream is now my reality—a reminder that delayed doesn’t mean denied. I’m deeply grateful to God for preparing me, making a way, ordering my steps, and bringing this dream to life in His perfect timing.
