First up is Keonté Beals!

Through his work as a speaker, author, artist and entrepreneur, Keonté is inspiring young people to embrace who they are, recognize their worth and become leaders in their own communities. His commitment to mentorship, belonging and connection is making a meaningful difference, reaching more than 50,000 students, educators and leaders.

What a great Friday afternoon! Students from Horton and throughout the AVRCE had the opportunity to hear from @keontebeals and @jahmilamusic about the history of reggae music, as well as the power and purpose behind music.

And, as an added bonus, through the support of @nac.cna and @musicincommunities, all AVRCE students can attend Jah’Mila’s performance TONIGHT at The Annex in Canning. She’ll also be joined by our own @alainatherese.music 🎶

Show starts at 7 - see you there!

Half-way point of DisabiliTEA, Season 1. Whose stories have you checked out? Perfect for watching or listening while on a commute or taking a break.

These candid, perfectly imperfect 20-30 minute video episodes will introduce you to disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent advocates as well as some supportive allies who bring a topic to spill the tea about.

The next 5 folks are as wonderful and candid as the first! The series will take a break over the summer months before picking back up in the fall.

Thank you for supporting a Disabled-led, neurodiverse series based in Atlantic Canada.

Disabled advocates interested in a guest spot are welcome to submit a self-nomination on my website in bio, clicking Finding Avalon Podcast for the form.

Donors and sponsors are needed to help keep this indie, grassroots podcast going. Whether that's a small donation in the links in bio, or an in-kind offer or annual subscription coverage of the tools I use, you can help me keep the lights on,

Disabled voices deserve to be heard. #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs

I asked @keontebeals what he would say to the kids who are suffering in silence.
Talk to your child, you never know what is in their minds! Get help if you need it!
