Our Director Kerrin Massarueh is off with Five (5) Baltimore -Maryland Youth to the MINUME XV (Model United Nations) with official invitation from @plerd_oficial in the Dominican Republic from July 21 to July 25. We are excited to be the first primarily English Speaking delegation to be invited to this prestigious event. A heartfelt thank you goes out to these amazing individuals who share our passion for uplifting the youth of Dominica. Their selflessness and commitment truly made a difference during the week-long camp. Together, we created an environment where dreams could flourish and new friendships were forged. I was kindly invited to attend the United Nations Economic and Social Council's (ECOSOC) youth forum at the UN's HQ in New York. I took this opportunity to talk with young people who are on the front lines in Global South countries to learn more about resources and support they need. Such an intense experience listening to various youth perspectives on different issues around sustainable development. Lots of radical thinking and building radical connections. So glad I got to finally meet @isaac_bayoh in person, what an inspiration to young people in Sierra Leone ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฑ I'm so happy I got to connect with movement leaders from across the world who are doing amazing things in food and agriculture, tech, public health, gender rights, disability rights, etc. However, we do have to acknowledge the question: who has the right to sit at the table? This forum was unfortunately inaccessible to young people who weren't able to get their visas on time or get sponsorship to attend the forum. Which resulted in many voices being left out of the conversation. To the comrades who couldn't attend, you were missed and we constantly highlighted this inequity throughout the forum. As a constellation of movements, we are pushing boundaries and building new ways to practice solidarity. I'm grateful to have had this opportunity to convene and meet with you all and I hope we can keep pushing the needle forward โœŠ๐Ÿพ ((a note for future Samia: please don't walk around Manhattan in heels))

Un diฬa alguien me dijo: los joฬvenes dominicanos NO TIENEN referentes de eฬxito a los cuales seguir e inspirarse. Mi primera reaccioฬn fue aprobar aquel pensamiento y seguir con mi diฬa. Pero el comentario me dejoฬ pensando y deciฬa que SIฬ HABIฬA REFERENTES DE EฬXITO. Solo que quizaฬs no eran tan conocidos y debiฬan haber maฬs opciones para conocerlosโ€ฆ se me encendioฬ el ๐Ÿ’ก y mientras me preparaba para el debate de Elecciones de SGA, se me ocurrioฬ MINUME TALKS, un evento multidisciplinario en MINUME donde los joฬvenes pudieran conocer historias de eฬxito que les inspiraran y sobre todo, les dieran los referentes que necesitaban para saber que TODO ES POSIBLE ๐Ÿš€ Con dos anฬƒos de MINUME TALKS e invitados increiฬbles puedo confirmar de que siฬ tenemos referentes de eฬxito y que seguiremos mostraฬndolos para que descubramos unos con otros la grandeza que llevamos dentro. Con una temaฬtica de STEAM, estas charlas motivacionales han sentado las bases para exponer lo mejor del talento joven al mundo. El PLERD aceptoฬ la propuesta y la transformoฬ en una de las secciones de MINUME que maฬs razonan con el puฬblico.
