Meet our Artist of the Week: Kerry Sutton, a mixed-media artist born and raised in Seattle who currently lives in Federal Way. He works with various media, including recycled materials such as shoeboxes, wood scraps, street signs, and more.

"I tend to be inspired by the materials themselves; breathing new life into the forgotten and discarded items of our everyday life, finding joy and reclamation in giving these items meaning and new life. This work feels incredibly meaningful, as it often functions as a symbolic apparatus; taking the painful and defeating moments of life and seeking to create something beautiful out of the forgotten and broken."

What a whirlwind few weeks it’s been! The “My City’s Filthy” exhibit at @bumbershoot drew thousands of visitors this weekend. It was an honor and dream come true to curate and produce this show with 60+ brilliant artists and over 120 pieces. 🖼️

Huge thanks to all the incredible artists who made it possible, including our performers Grynch and Wizdom, Marcus Wilson, Dewa Dorje, Fantasy A, and Goddess Kring. 🎤 🎶

I couldn’t have done it without the fantastic design & install skills of Jeremy Buben @art_goers and Tom Eykemans @teykem at @tomepress - who designed the gorgeous exhibit book in a super tight turnaround. The book SOLD OUT by the second day - but stay tuned - we plan to reprint! 📖

Big shout out to Ron Jones and Lonny Johnson at @a_ntgallery (please spread the word/donate to support their move to Pioneer Square so this longstanding co-op art gallery doesn’t vanish!), Phil Bevins at Chatwin Press, Alissa Williams, Berette S Macaulay, Maria Gotay and Bumbershoot staff & volunteers, Seattle Center, and my parents Bob and Anny. This one was for you, Dad. 🌖💗🙏

Gonna hibernate for a couple days - then the next event is the Vanishing Seattle Variety Show on September 17th at the Here-after with John Keister and Aleksa Manila - tix at link in bio!

It was both humbling and inspiring to get to work and interact with so many folks who love this city - keep it filthy! 🙏🙌❤️
