Every composer has a story that extends far beyond the notes on the page.

In this new interview, I had the pleasure of speaking with Diogo Carvalho about his journey as a composer, entrepreneur, and co-director of the Thessaloniki International Music Festival. We explore the vision behind his work, his entrepreneurial approach to the arts, and the international collaborations that have taken him across Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Brazil, and beyond.

New on Echelon Press

I’m excited to share something a little different.

Our first lifestyle feature is now live, and it’s all about caviar, private access, and the world of modern luxury. Written by Mohammad Ali Shabbat, this piece offers a glimpse into experiences that most people only hear about.

As Echelon Press continues to grow, I want it to be a place where readers can discover more than the arts. From music and fashion to culture, business, and lifestyle, we’re building a publication that celebrates excellence in all its forms.

If you’ve ever been curious about the world behind a spoonful of caviar, this one’s for you.

Every composer has a story, but the most compelling ones are often found between the notes.

In our latest feature, we sit down with composer Kevin Day for a thoughtful conversation about rhythm, vulnerability, opera, artistic growth, and the pursuit of writing music that leaves listeners with “some kind of feeling.”

Before the interview, I spent time listening to his music. After the interview, I heard it differently.

My first orchestral premiere was in Greece. How cool is that?

The past two weeks have been the experience of a lifetime. I have so many thanks to extend.

To @diogosalmeroncarvalho and @dknehanscomposer , for creating this incredible, positive, supportive, inclusive space for new music.

To @langleyconducts for his absolute expertise on the podium, and his kindness in everything he does.

To @tssoofficial for their dedication to new music and their stellar performance of our works.

And finally, to all my new composer besties, too many to name! What a wonderful, joyful time we had together. Here’s to next time!

I had the pleasure of talking to this talented artist at a restaurant in Thessaloniki Greece last night. Unfortunately, he doesn’t use social media, very talented. Thank you @to_retsinaki for the meal.

I’m deeply grateful to have crossed paths with Kenny Sloan in this life, not only for the moment of connection itself, but for the steady and generous support he has shown toward my artistic and professional endeavors. His commitment to philanthropy and to uplifting the work of others reflects a quiet but powerful form of impact that often goes unseen.

Some people enter your journey and subtly shift its direction in ways you only fully understand with time. His presence has been one of those rare and meaningful forces.

I invite you to read more about his philanthropic work in my latest article — link in bio.
